Feeling invisible lately?
You’re talking, but no one appears to hear you.
You live with others–maybe even family–yet you feel like a stranger in your own home.
You can tell the person on the other end of the phone is only half-listening.
You’re doing some good things these days, but your efforts go unnoticed.
You’re hurt from the rejection, the lack of invitation, the feeling of being left out.
You may wonder, “Does it take talking through a megaphone to get anyone’s attention?? To get anyone to even notice I’m here??”
Sadly, it might these days, but friend, let me tell you, even if others don’t see or hear you,
You are noticed.
Noticed by the One Who matters.
Ponder this for a few moments:
She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” Genesis 16:13 NIV
God saw Hagar near a spring in the desert, and He sees us right now, too.
He met her in her running, in her distress, in her need. He meets us right where we’re at, as well.
He knows every thought. Every word. Every move you and I make. He sees it all.
God, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand.
I’m an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking.
You know when I leave and when I get back; I’m never out of your sight.
You know everything I’m going to say before I start the first sentence.
I look behind me and you’re there, then up ahead and you’re there, too—your reassuring presence, coming and going.
This is too much, too wonderful—I can’t take it all in!
Psalm 139:1-6 MSG
Nothing is beyond His sight, His presence, His grasp.
He notices you and me.
Even when everyone else doesn’t. Even when we feel invisible. Even when we are passed over, left out, ignored, and skipped. We are not forgotten.
And one of the cool things is, we don’t have to work to get God’s attention. We don’t have to yell, or stop our feet, or stand on our tip-toes, or wave like crazy to get His attention.
We already have it.
I let this truth sink in, and I get all warm and fuzzy inside. Goodness… the Creator of the universe, the One who formed me in my mother’s womb, the King of kings, and Lord of lords notices little ol’ me. The girl who lives in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by cornfields. The girl who is seeking His will for her life. The girl who still struggles with forgiveness, and rejection. The girl who can’t resist fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and french fries for the life of her.
He knows me–and notices me–inside and out. And loves me anyway.
The same goes for you.
He knows–and notices–you, and loves everything about you.
So, the next time we’re feeling invisible, we can rejoice instead. You and I are noticed by the one and only God.
And He likes what He sees.
Friend, I notice you, too. Thank you for sharing a part of your day with me. It’s an honor!
Much love to you,
Julie
It’s Day 28 of 31 Days #CelebratingWhoYouAre. I hope you can let this truth sink deep into your heart today. You are noticed, my friend. Pass this truth on to another who could benefit from hearing/reading it. Thank you for being here. (Linking this post with Jennifer Dukes Lee and Holley Gerth.)
Julie, this is lovely. Sits well with my soul this morning, too.
Thank you for sharing. Visiting from Coffee for your heart, this morning. ((blessings))
Julie, this is a powerful truth for a need we all have and a doubt we all have: does anyone really see me? Translation: am I really important? Thanks for your reassuring words this morning!
I’m so glad he notices me because it can be awfully lonely at times.
Thank you for the warm fuzzy feelings and the encouragement today! So happy you are here! 🙂
Hi Sarah! I’m happy you are here, too! God bless you. You are an encourager!
