104. Truth: God Knows You, Sees You, And He Cares

by | Aug 1, 2023 | Podcast

Do you ever question if God sees you or if He cares about you? Well, this week we continue to celebrate a milestone we achieved last month on the podcast: 100 episodes! For these last four weeks we have reached back into the archives to highlight the most popular and most played episodes out of these 100. This is the final week in this celebration series, and next week we’ll resume with a brand-new episode. Today we’re highlighting episode 61, originally titled, Here’s the Truth: God Sees You and He Cares. It’s no wonder this episode has been played a bunch, because I think we each, at one point or another, wonder if God cares about us and cares about what we’re walking through. I pray this encourages your heart today. Feel free to share it with someone else who could use this encouragement, too.

Have you ever asked questions like:

Does God really care about me and what I’m going through?
Or am I invisible to Him?
Does He hear me when I pray?
Or do my words fall on deaf ears?
Does God see how I’m struggling?
Or is He making me go through this because of my past mistakes?

I’m guessing we’ve all asked these or similar questions. And there’s nothing wrong with asking them. In fact, it’s in the asking where we find the answers. It’s in the asking where we learn truth. And it’s in the asking where we are met with reality of who God really is.

The truth of the matter is this:

God knows you, sees you, hears you, and He cares.

And, thankfully, it doesn’t matter what you’ve done or haven’t done.

As an earthly father would be, His gaze is on and His ears are tuned in to His children. He is neither blind nor deaf to our needs. What concerns us concerns Him. Likewise, He is never too busy or too tired or too anything to meet us in the circumstances we are in. You and I are never alone, never out of God’s sight, and never beyond His earshot.

How do I know?

Well, simply, because the Bible tells me so.

All throughout scripture, we see how God intervened and acted on behalf of His people. So, if He did all this for them, why would He not act on our behalf, too?

In this episode we look at one of the amazing stories in the Bible where God met a woman and her son in the wilderness and cared for them there. It’s the story of Hagar and Ishmael, and consequently, we ponder how we can apply the lessons we learn from this story to our own lives.

Click on the player above to listen to the full 17-minute episode.

No matter what you may be walking through or experiencing, I pray this story of Hagar and Ishmael encourages your heart. I pray it reminds you how much God cares for you. God sees you, friend. He loves you so very much. Hang on to this today and every day. God bless you.

There's a group of special women out there who, for one reason or another, show up to church alone.

At a former church, an entire row was filled with us women who came without spouses or families, and we created quite a bond. We knew we needed it--and each other.

I get it--it's not so easy to do somedays, walking in alone, sitting by oneself, but every time, God meets me there.

If you went to church by yourself or know someone who did today, I see you. I'm with you. I am praying for you. Keep showing up. Your presence matters more than you know.

Sometimes the most sacred moments don’t look polished. Sometimes they include a book, a lap full of grandsons, and yes—even a finger in a nose.😉

But this? This is legacy.
This is love.
This is what matters right now.🩷

You don’t have to have it all together to make a difference.
Your presence is enough. Your faithfulness is forming something eternal.🌸

Keep showing up, even when life feels messy. God is using it all. 🙌

This is your reminder that God doesn’t require perfection—just your presence.

You don’t have to crush every task or look Pinterest-perfect doing it.
You’re doing holy work, even in messy buns and yesterday’s mascara. 💁‍♀️

My good friends since 5th grade, Karen and Sheila, joined me on the podcast this week. When I asked them what suggestions they had for someone who's struggling with negative self-talk or degrading thoughts, Sheila shared her wisdom in saying to look for the positive. There's always something positive. But sometimes we get fixed on the negative instead. We need to remember the positive.

Isn't this true? What are you focused on today? The negative or the positive? What positive can you remember today?
