The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11
Sometimes the words you need come right when you need them.
I’m thankful that happens to me often.
I start my day by reading my devotions, and digging a little deeper in God’s Word. I continually find it amazing how the specific encouragement my heart longs for seems to jump off the page.
Today was no different when I was reminded of the above truth.
Strength.
Peace.
I could use a good dose of both.
When life seems more than we can handle, it certainly might be. Friend, we don’t need to fumble through it on our own strength. We weren’t meant to.
And when the yuck in life tries to devour our peace, there’s an ample supply, just waiting for us to draw from.
Where is this supply?
True strength and peace is part of the character of the One who created us. He has a stockpile of both, and His supply never runs dry because He never wears out. He’s willing to lavish them upon us and fill us full. But, will we ask??
God knows I’ve repeatedly tried living on my own strength. That lasts about three days. Maybe four. Then I find myself weary. Exhausted. Frustrated. Grumpy. It’s not pretty when I’m grumpy.
Creating my own peace? Yeah, I’ve tried that too. That ended up in disaster, and I’ve found myself traveling down a rabbit trail or two I shouldn’t have ventured out on.
Will I ever learn?
I’m asking for some of the stockpile today.
I’m asking for God to give me His strength and bless me with His peace. How about you?
I don’t know what you’re walking through, and I don’t know what yuck might be trying to swallow your peace. I also don’t know where you are with your faith.
But what I do know, is we weren’t meant to go it alone.
I’m thankful for that today, because I’ve proven I can’t.
We can all use more strength and peace for life on this earth. We can ask, because God’s faithful to answer. He won’t turn us away, and He won’t ignore us.
He wants us to come to the place where we realize we can’t be strong and have peace on our own. And when we do, He loves us too much to turn us away.
God will not reject us, even if the world seems to.
So, ask. Ask for a good measure of His stockpile of strength and peace. He’ll bless you, friend. He’ll bless you.
Just what we need, when we need it.
Blessings to you today!
Julie
It’s a blessing to link up with my friend Holly Barrett for Testimony Tuesday. I invite you to visit her space. You’ll feel welcome, as I do each time I visit.
So grateful for that “stockpile” of strength and peace He gives us. We are blessed. Love you, friend. Thank you for the encouragement always found here. xoxo
