Spring Break Day 9

by | Mar 21, 2011 | This Lefe Family

I woke up this morning to the sound of thunder.  We had already decided yesterday that today was going to be a day at home, and by the sounds of outside, I’m glad it was!  We even had some hail this morning!

We usually don’t miss church, but since I took the week off completely from Mission of Hope, I just wasn’t ready to go back today…even for church.  Instead, I spent some time with God’s Word this morning, and received some great encouragement from Him through the book of Isaiah.  Oh, how this year’s study in Bible Study Fellowship has been so appropriate and timely for me!! It was the perfect way to begin my day!

Ali and Zach continued throughout the day saying every now and then, “Thanks for such a great spring break.”  Or, “I had so much fun this week…I don’t want it to end.”  Or, “You’re the best mom.  Thanks for a great trip.”  I was melted again and again by their words.  We really did have a great spring break!

Tonight, Zach really wanted to attend their youth group, but Ali really wanted to just stay home.  So, Bill and I drove Zach there, dropped him off at youth group, and we went to a local restaurant and had a date!  We ate chips and cueso dip, and talked, and talked, and talked.  (I think I did most of the talking, however.)  It was wonderful to get on “the same page” with him again, especially after being away from each other for a few days.  It was the perfect way to end our spring break!  (Zach had a great time at youth group too!)

I am so thankful for these last nine days.  God blessed our family in so many ways.  He granted us His favor, protected us, gave us great joy in many unexpected ways, and kept drawing our hearts to Him…where they need to be.  It was a wonderful break!  Spending so much time together as a family was a blessing to me, as I know these spring breaks are in short supply with Ali and Zach.  I cherished each moment with them!

Life will return to “normal” for Ali and Zach tomorrow, and I have the day off.  I look forward to spending the day the way God wants me to, as I have nothing planned until I pick up Zach from school.  It’ll be great to spend time seeking Him tomorrow!

The voice in your head doesn’t get the final say.
Let’s trade the lies for truth today—and speak to ourselves the way God does.

This is your reminder that God doesn’t require perfection—just your presence.

You don’t have to crush every task or look Pinterest-perfect doing it.
You’re doing holy work, even in messy buns and yesterday’s mascara. 💁‍♀️

My good friends since 5th grade, Karen and Sheila, joined me on the podcast this week. When I asked them what suggestions they had for someone who's struggling with negative self-talk or degrading thoughts, Sheila shared her wisdom in saying to look for the positive. There's always something positive. But sometimes we get fixed on the negative instead. We need to remember the positive.

Isn't this true? What are you focused on today? The negative or the positive? What positive can you remember today?

What's that Bible verse? 📖
If your energy’s gone and your to-do list still feels long, take this as permission to exhale.

God isn’t asking for perfection—just your presence.

Rest is holy.
So is grace.
