It’s been over a week that I have turned on my computer.
My family and I returned early this morning from a wonderful summer vacation to Pensacola Beach, Florida. The only problem with this trip was that it was too short. I could have stayed another week.
I’ll post more later with pics and fun things! But now, I’m experiencing what I call “re-entry.” Re-entry into having to think about routines again, doing laundry, thinking about “what’s for dinner,” work, etc. Responsibilities that you don’t think about while on vacation. Things that are the farthest from your mind…well, they are hitting me smack-dab in the face today. And I’ll be blunt when I say I don’t like it one bit.
I made the comment to my family while at dinner in Pensacola one night, “I wish I could be on vacation forever.” Zach, in his sixteen year-old wisdom replied, “Then it wouldn’t seem like vacation.” He was absolutely right. And I responded with, “Yes. I guess it would be called life.”
And it hit me. Each one of us have what we call life. It’s what each of us do and how we live our lives that make a difference. We can live life like we are living out a vacation. Or we can live life like we are living out a task list, a duty, a burden. We have the ability to choose how we live our lives.
I’m choosing today to live out a vacation, even through re-entry. And living to love God and love others through my journey in this life, will carry through into eternity. That, my friends, will be the true vacation!
I’m glad to be back on my blog again. And as Dorothy on the Wizard of Oz said, “There’s no place like home!”
