It’s 9pm here in Algona, and my body is tired after peddling 77.5 miles today. I think we’ll sleep good tonight!
Camping each night is quite the adventure. Our group camps together in designated areas in each town. Tonight we’re next to a school and a bean field. Here’s our “home” for the rest of the week:
And showers are an adventure too. Tonight we took one in a semi trailer. Separate, clean shower stalls with hot water!
It was another beautiful day… 75 degrees, sunny, and a small headwind to keep us cool most of our ride. We took our time today and again, we enjoyed each town’s hospitality.
The Grotto of Redemption in West Bend was quite amazing. A priest began sculpting this attraction rock by rock years ago, and the sculptures and intricacies are fascinating. That was a nice surprise on our route!
As we were leaving Wittemore, Bill noticed something was up with our front tire. It was bulging like our back tire did last month. We turned around to hopefully find a repair stand to replace it. Repair stands are in each town on RAGBRAI, and thankfully the one we stopped at had a tire to fit and replaced it for us. We were back on the road in 20 minutes!
We have a shorter day tomorrow with about 50 miles ahead of us. Hopefully the weather will be just as great as the last two days have been!
Hope you’re having a great week!
Julie
