My daughter and I were enjoying lunch out together today, and as we were finishing up our meal, we looked up to the t.v. that was on the other side of the room. We saw headlines we couldn’t believe…explosions had occurred near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. I couldn’t see exactly what was happening but I could see it was bad.
My Twitter feed then became filled with news headlines of the same thing.
Then the preliminary number of injuries were reported, then two deaths. I’ve heard the injury number climb, and now the death toll is up to three, one being an 8 year old.
I just watched a video of the explosions on my laptop, as we haven’t had the t.v. on much tonight. My heart brakes for those affected by this awful act. I immediately thought of my friend, Angie who lives in Boston with her family. I was glad to see on Facebook a post from her saying they were home safe, but live only 2-1/2 miles from the finish line. She said it hit too close to home.
We can’t begin to understand why something like this would happen. And why someone would want to hurt others like this. There’s no answers. All I can do is pray.
And that’s what I’ve been doing.
I’m sure we’ll find out more in the days and weeks to come. May those affected turn to the One who can give complete comfort, healing and peace.
Please join me in praying, friends.
