187. On What Are You Building Your Life?

by | Mar 4, 2025 | Podcast

What would happen if we built our homes on sand? We see what happens when we build sandcastles on the beach, don’t we? The waves crash in and they are washed out to sea. Not surprisingly, the same thing goes for our lives. On what re you building your life?

Imagine you’re out on a boat in the middle of a lake.

It’s a sunshiny, peaceful day, and the water is calm and nearly glass-like. You decide to stop for a while to take in the scenery, so you cut the engine and sit back to relax. But after some time, you abruptly notice something—you’ve drifted far from where you started. The gentle current, almost unnoticeable at first, has carried you away.

Now, if you had dropped an anchor, you would have stayed securely in place, no matter how subtle or strong the current was. Without it, though, you drift without realizing it—until you look up and see how far you’ve gone.

Life works the same way. Without an anchor, we can slowly drift—away from truth, away from God, and away from the firm foundation we need. The currents of culture, busyness, and personal struggles can pull us off course without us even noticing at first. But when we anchor ourselves in God’s Word, we stay steady, no matter what winds or waves come our way.

What is anchoring you? On what are you building your life?

In this episode, we discuss why we need an anchor and what/who is our anchor. This episode was a good heart check for me, starting this third month of this year. It helped me to pause to analyze just how am I am living and on what am I building my life. I pray it does the same for you.

Stay encouraged, friend. Keep building your life on what matters. God bless you!

What we allow ourselves to think matters.

It matters more than we realize because what we think about, we end up living out.

We have a choice to believe the lies from the enemy of our souls or truth from God. Listen to episode 188 of the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast, where I share two ways to decipher the difference.

Life is too important to waste it believing lies.

What we believe matters. Are we believing lies or truth?
