I forget.
There are days I get so immersed in life, I forget the important things.
I’d fit in well with the Israelites in Exodus 15-17. They forgot too.
They forgot all God had done for them. They forgot how He rescued them, led them through Red Sea, provided for them, encouraged them, and put up with them.
I wonder how God puts up with me.
They forgot how God loved them.
I forget that too.
It’s good to remember God’s truth.
It’s good to remember God’s love.
That’s why it’s so important to open the Bible and read His words.
Do you forget?
If you do, like I do, I’m thankful God doesn’t get frustrated with us. He doesn’t expect us to be perfect. He doesn’t expect us to remember everything. It would be good if we did, but He doesn’t get upset when we don’t.
I’m thankful He’s patient in reminding us.
That’s one reason why many in the Bible built altars… to remember what God had done.
It would be good for us to build some altars.
Here’s one…
For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are—high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean—nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us. Romans 8:38-39
Nothing can separate us from God’s love.
God’s love isn’t dependent on anything or anyone but Him. No matter how bad things seem, or what we do or don’t do, we will always have God’s love. Always.
And here’s another one…
Even if the mountains heave up from their anchors, and the hills quiver and shake, I will not desert you. You can rely on My enduring love; My covenant of peace will stand forever. So says the Eternal One, whose love won’t give up on you. Isaiah 54:10
His love won’t give up on you.
He won’t ever leave us. Even if we leave Him. Even if we forget Him. He’ll never forget us.
Two beautiful “altars” to remind us of God’s perfect and unfailing love for you and for me today.
Rejoice with me in these truths, won’t you?
Let’s live them, praise Him for them, and share them!
And if we forget again, may this remind us.
It’s good to build an altar.
Julie
