And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Luke 2:8-12
Merry Christmas!
It’s Christmas morning…and oh, how times have changed as our children have gotten older! Years ago, we would have been awaked a few hours earlier than this by two children so excited to see what Santa brought them. Those two children are still sleeping soundly in their beds this morning. 🙂 Bill is busily stuffing my stocking behind me, and I’m sitting at our kitchen table, enjoying the beautiful snow-covered scenery outside, and savoring my first cup of coffee of the day.
I love Christmas. I love that we spend it together as a family. I love the relaxed day that it is for us. We will open presents whenever Ali and Zach emerge from their rooms. Mid-morning we’ll have breakfast casserole (my friend Jeanie’s yummy recipe) and cinnamon rolls. We’ll read the Christmas story at some point this afternoon, and then later in the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a nice Christmas meal together here at home. I think last year we all stayed in our pajamas all day on Christmas day. We might be doing a repeat of that this year. 🙂
I love that God came to earth in the form of a baby…in a stable. He humbled Himself to be born in a stable, even though He, as the King of kings and the Lord of lords should have been born in a palace. He loved us so much that He came to earth so we would have a way to be saved from our sins, and to be able to live forever with Him in Paradise. God is so good to us! He is the greatest Gift!!
I pray that God touches your heart today in a special way, and that He helps you stay focused on Christ this Christmas day. I wish you a very Merry Christmas! May God’s abundant blessings be upon you!
Love,
Julie
