Today Is A Good Day To Make Someone’s Day Better

by | Nov 5, 2020 | Encouragement, Love Others

I love the promise of a new day, don’t you? A new day is filled with hope, with God’s fresh mercies, and with wonderful opportunities to make a difference in this world. It provides you and me moments of growth, filled with God’s grace. A new day blesses us with ways we can make another’s day better.

A new day is a gift just waiting to be opened.

I love it!

As I went out early to feed our farm cats this morning, I stood for a moment and watched the sun rise over the horizon through the low-lying clouds. You know? I sometimes think God paints the skies just for me (even though I know that’s not totally true). But I like to think so anyway. There’s just something about how He brings up the sun and the colors He creates in the skies that just makes the start of my day amazingly beautiful and my entire day better. No matter what’s going on in my life.

See what I mean?

So, what do we do with this gift of today? Do we treat it as any other day? Are we caught up in thinking about yesterday or pondering what will happen with tomorrow? Or do we live this day in the best ways we can, trying to make a difference in this world, in our lives and in the lives of others? What if making another’s day better was our focus?

I say let’s do that today.

Today is a good day to make someone’s day better.

Today is a good day to make someone's day better. How can we do that?

Sounds good, doesn’t it? Sounds like a great plan for today, because we like it when someone makes our day better, right? But, how do we go about doing that? How can you and I make another’s day better? Can we? I say yes!

Let’s brainstorm.

Give him/her a phone call.
Send him/her a cheerful text.
Bake your neighbor some cookies.
Offer to take something off of another’s plate.
Open the door for a stranger.
Offer a kind word or compliment to a stranger.
Look for the good in someone and tell him/her what you see.
Send an encouraging note in the mail.
Pray for someone and let them know you’re praying for him/her.
Pay for another’s coffee.
Ask a friend what’s something you could do to bless her.
Tell your spouse what you appreciate about him/her.
Remind your child how special he/she is.
Send a note of appreciate with your child to his/her teacher.
Purchase $5 gift cards to your favorite place and randomly hand them out as you go about your day.
Tell someone who’s struggling that it’s all going to be okay.

What did I miss?

What are some additional ways we can make another’s day better?

Add what I’ve missed from this list in the comments below.

Someone in your life and mine could use a pick-me-up of sorts today. Someone needs a ray of hope. Who is it? I pray you and I reflect that ray of hope and be a beacon of God’s light. Even if it’s for someone who’s just having a bad day. Or for someone who often makes your day better. May God open our eyes to see the needs of others around us, and may He prompt us make a difference through Him in the lives of others today.

Do not forget to do good and to help one another, because these are the sacrifices that please God.

Hebrews 13:16 GNT

But not just today. What if we had this as our focus every day? Wow! What a difference we could really make in the lives of those around us! Willing to give it a try? Let’s do it! Beginning with today.

Thanks for being here today, friend, and making my day better!

Much love,
