Lunch with Donna & Linda

by | Feb 11, 2010 | friends, relationships

Today I was blessed…I had the privilege of having lunch with a couple friends.  I worked with them years ago…actually sixteen years ago…before our daughter Ali was born.  They day Ali was born I left that job and haven’t stepped back into corporate America since.  I’ve kept in touch with Linda a little better than I have with Donna.
Donna celebrated a milestone birthday yesterday, so Linda and I took her out for her birthday.  Donna is almost 40 years older than I am, and Linda is almost 20 years older than me.  I’ve always known age really doesn’t need to matter when it comes to relationships, and it certainly doesn’t with us three!  We all seem to be (and act) the same age from the inside, even though the outside might tell a different story.  (I’m very thankful for my Mary Kay facial skin care!) 🙂

We caught up with each other, shared pictures, reminisced about old times and the people we used to work with, we laughed, encouraged each other, and really enjoyed our lunch together.  I think Linda and I may have convinced Donna to get a computer too! 🙂  I just wish I would have thought to pull out my camera and have someone take a picture of us!  We plan to do it again in the future, and I look forward to it!

I cherish the people God has placed in my life, and after today, I’m realizing even more how important relationships are.  Jobs come and go, paychecks get spent quickly, the stuff we acquire is fleeting, and all those things can be gone in an instant.  Why do we put such value on things and stuff?  What really matters are the people in our lives, and what lasts are the memories we create through the relationships we build with those people.

I’m very thankful tonight for the relationships I have with Donna and Linda, and I look forward to our next time together, whenever that may be!  May God bless them and keep them safe until we’re together again!

Being where your feet are doesn't have to be quiet or serious.

Sometimes, it's clanging spatulas, giggling grandsons, and worship music on full blast.

This is abundance.
This is presence.
This is joy in the now.

Let’s not miss the sacred in the silly.

Listen to episode 206 of the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast for more.

You’re not behind.
You’re not late.
You’re not too much or not enough.
You’re here.

And here is sacred ground when God walks with you.
Stay present, friend.
There’s peace in the now. ✈️💛

Ever find yourself mentally time-traveling to the past, future, and everywhere but the present? 🙋‍♀️ Same. But the peace we're chasing? It’s only found right here, right now—with God.

Today, let’s choose to be fully where our feet are. 💛

Peace hits different when it’s rooted in surrender.
It’s not about everything being “figured out”—
It’s about knowing the One who holds it all.

You’re not who you were.
You’re walking (or driving 😉) in freedom.
And girl, it looks good on you.

It happens to the best of us, especially us women. Our thoughts can not only distract us, but they can derail us. 🥴

But we don't have to let them.

Say this prayer the next time your thoughts distract you. There's nothing like inviting God in!

Are you where your feet are today? Could you use a little help in staying present?

We continue on in our Summer of Abundance series on the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast today, and in episode 206, which dropped earlier this morning, we explore the fifth element of abundant life: Purposeful Presence. You might guess it's a subject I'm passionate about.

This episode is for you if you're tired of life passing you by and if you're ready to live more in the moment. In this snippet, I share Purposeful Presence in three categories, which is a great place to begin. Find the full 23-minute episode wherever you listen to podcasts or @julielefebure.

No matter what last week looked like… this one holds new beauty, new purpose, and new grace.

So water what matters.
Tend to your heart.
And trust that God is growing something good—even if you can’t see it yet. 🌸
