Love Note To My Lefes – March 2016

by | Apr 6, 2016 | This Lefe Family

A few days late, but my monthly note to the three I’m blessed to call family (which is below) is always a highlight to my month. It’s a blessing for me to recall the events we shared through the month, and to publicly appreciate my husband and children. I believe it’s important to remind those closest to us just how very important they are!

To Bill, Alissa and Zach:

Happy April!

As we changed the calendar here at home, new pictures of our family appeared on April’s pages. Even though we’ve all probably seen these photos numerous times, there’s just something about seeing them again. Our smiles. Our laughter. Our good times. Together.

But with good times, also comes not-so-good times. We are just like any other family who experiences them. But no matter what we may be going through–good or not-so-good–we’re going through them together.

As I was praying for you three earlier this week, I was reminded how very special you are to me. I was reminded what a gift each of you are… to me and to so many others. You make being a wife and mother an incredible privilege, and a whole lot of fun. I thank God for you and for how close we are. I continue to pray daily for us and for you individually. I love to do so!

Bill, you inspire me. Thank you for leading our family in the ways you do. Thank you for leading by example last month with your healthy changes. And thank you for motivating me to keep going when I want to quit! When you get your mind set on something, you don’t stop until it’s done. I love that about you. I also love how you continually listen to me, encourage me, and build me up–just when I need it. Thank you for loving me and putting up with me. I’m honored to be your wife!

Alissa, March was a big month for you as you completed a goal for your upcoming trip, you started a new job, and you made some positive changes in your life. You encourage me as I watch you live your life. You embrace new things, you keep a positive attitude, and you build others up as you go. Thank you for being a great example for your momma! I love how you continue to support your family, especially your “little” brother. He looks up to you, and loves you more than you know. I may say this often, but I am so proud of you. I love you so very much, and I look forward to making more great memories with you as we share more fun times together in April!

Zach, I cannot believe you turned 19 last month! How can that be? When you were a little boy, I tried to imagine what kind adult you’d be, and what kind of man you’d become. You are far beyond what I ever imagined. You have blown every thought I had out of the water. You continue to excel, to shine, and to work hard. I’m proud of you for what you’ve accomplished, but more proud of you for who you are. Your example of doing one’s best rubs off on others… especially me! Thank you. I love how you don’t cut corners, and I am impressed with the choices you are making in your life. I love you so, so much, and I look forward to great times with you this month!

One of the many things I pray is for God to help us put Him first in our lives on a daily basis… for us as a family, and as individuals. May each of our relationships with Him grow stronger with each passing day, and may we always seek to do His will and not our own. I’ll continue to pray this promise, and I encourage you to pray the same:

Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Proverbs 3:5-6

I love you to the moon and back!

Love,

Julie & Mom

This is your reminder that God doesn’t require perfection—just your presence.

You don’t have to crush every task or look Pinterest-perfect doing it.
You’re doing holy work, even in messy buns and yesterday’s mascara. 💁‍♀️

My good friends since 5th grade, Karen and Sheila, joined me on the podcast this week. When I asked them what suggestions they had for someone who's struggling with negative self-talk or degrading thoughts, Sheila shared her wisdom in saying to look for the positive. There's always something positive. But sometimes we get fixed on the negative instead. We need to remember the positive.

Isn't this true? What are you focused on today? The negative or the positive? What positive can you remember today?

What do you do to change your mindset when it needs some changing?

My friends, Karen Wacker and Sheila Schulte, joined me on the podcast this week, and they both shared their wisdom and inspiration. I love what Karen said about what she does to change her mindset. This might encourage you today, too.

What's that Bible verse? 📖
If your energy’s gone and your to-do list still feels long, take this as permission to exhale.

God isn’t asking for perfection—just your presence.

Rest is holy.
So is grace.

Don't miss this if you could use a belly laugh today! 🤣

This is what happens when you invite on the podcast two friends who you've known you since 5th grade, Sheila and Karen. 🩵

Sheila says it perfectly,
Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “I’m not enough... I’ll never get it right... I’m failing at everything”?

You’re not alone—and those words aren’t the truth.

Join us for She Speaks Life, a special morning created for women just like you—women who are tired of the negative self-talk and ready to replace it with God’s truth. Together, we’ll learn to speak life over ourselves, find freedom in our identity in Christ, and encourage one another in a space full of grace.

Come as you are. Leave refreshed, encouraged, and reminded of the power your words hold.

Bring a friend. There’s a seat for you. 💛
