What If We Would Live By Faith Today?

by | Jul 30, 2018 | Faith

Live by faith.

For we live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV

I’m one who can easily live my life based on what I see. I see my current circumstances and think they’ll always be this way. I observe life’s day to day events and can believe this craziness is all there is. Reality stares me in face and can cause me to feel uneasy, unsettled, and undone.

What if we would live by faith today?

I’d rather live by faith.

I’d rather not live by what I see. Living by sight gives us a skewed vision. Living by sight causes us to base our decisions, our actions, our lives only on what’s in front of us. We only see a tiny part of the big picture.

I imagine life is like a puzzle. A big 100,000 piece puzzle. And, it’s as if all the pieces are spread out before me. That alone is overwhelming! But, as I put one piece next to the other in a painstakingly slow fashion, I only get to see tiny portions of the completed project.

Not God, however. He can see them all connected. He sees the finished masterpiece. I can only view what’s in front of me, but God sees it all. And, with His help, eventually the pieces will come together and I, too, will be able to view the finished masterpiece some day.

But until then, it’s a walk of faith.

What is faith, anyway?

Faith is the assurance of things you have hoped for, the absolute conviction that there are realities you’ve never seen. Hebrews 11:1 VOICE

Simply, to live by faith is to live in the assurance of what we hope for in what we cannot yet see.

It sometimes means stepping into unknown territory. It can mean letting go of control. Or, it may mean believing the best is on its way, even though there’s no evidence of it.

To live by faith we trust God has a plan for our lives.

We follow His lead, even if we can’t see where we’re really headed.

We give up what’s comfortable to venture into places and situations that’ll stretch us, grow us, and mature us.

Sometimes it’s releasing the grip of being in charge and experiencing the freedom that comes with that act of trust.

We can believe in dreams again… the dreams that God has placed in your heart and mine and following them without hesitation.

We trust He knows what He’s doing, even if we don’t understand.

God shines through us when we live by faith.

And, He brings out our best when He does.

Friend, we can trust God with our lives. After all, He created them in the first place. Let’s allow Him to do what only He can do today as we live by faith. As we trust in His best for our lives. As we live in the assurance of what we hope for but cannot yet see.

Let’s cheer each other on in this today and every day.

Blessings!
