30. Is The Best Medicine Really Laughter?

by | Mar 1, 2022 | Podcast

So friend, how are you? How is life in your corner of the world today? I pray you are well, and you are living uplifted and encouraged. In this episode we’re discussing a subject I believe we could all benefit from. And it’s something I also believe we can all use more of. And that, my friend, is laughter. Last week we discussed how to be the most positive and enthusiastic people we know, and interestingly, laughter can play a big part in that. So, let’s get into this week’s episode and find some encouragement (and laughter) along the way.

Is the Best Medicine Really Laughter?

Have you laughed yet today? Well, here’s your chance. Because this episode is about laughter, I’m decided the best way to begin this episode is to start with a joke. Ready?

Why was 6 afraid of 7? Because 7 ate (8) 9. Funny, huh?

Here’s another one: What’s the best thing about Switzerland? I don’t know but the flag is a big plus.

And one more: Did you hear about the claustrophobic astronaut? He just needed a little space.

I say it’s good to start the day with laughter, even if it’s from what some might call a “dad joke.”

Laughter. It’s been said it’s the best medicine, right?

But why is that? Why is it considered the “best medicine”? And is it really? Does laughter contain healing properties for when we are sick? Does it boost our immunity to fight off germs or unwanted viruses? Can laughter really make that much of a difference in our lives?

In this episode we look at laughter from a health perspective and if it’s really all that’s it’s cracked up to be.

I also share a recent time when a friend and I were doubled over laughing over something hilarious, and how that impacted me (and others). It was the inspiration for this episode. We also take a look at a couple appropriate scriptures and the truth found in God’s Word about laughter.

Could it be time for a few laughs?

Maurice Chevalier once said, “You don’t stop laughing because you grow older. You grow older because you stop laughing.” May we never stop laughing!

I say we could all use a little more laughter right now, don’t you?

It’s good to laugh, isn’t it? Thanks for joining me here today. I pray your days are filled with laughter, love, and abundant life. God bless you.

You weren’t meant to do this on your own.
You weren’t created to be your own source.

So if life feels heavy today, come back to the One who holds it all together—and holds you.

Let Him carry what you can’t.

Some women believe surrendering is stifling, or restrictive, or demeaning. Nothing could be more untrue.

When we surrender our will and lives to Jesus, it's then when we find true, abundant life.

What's one area of life you can surrender into His capable hands today?

I used to think surrender was scary.
Now I know what’s really scary…
Me in charge of everything. 😂

Surrender isn’t giving up—it’s getting peace.
Getting direction.
Getting the abundant life I couldn’t create on my own.

Here’s your permission to stop carrying what you weren’t meant to hold. 🙌

Are we holding on tightly or letting go?

Abundant life is a free life- living, breathing, and trusting God has everything under control.

Comment AMEN if you agree.

I hear numerous women say they want to grow their relationship with God, but they aren't sure where to begin.

Sound familiar?

It's not complicated or difficult. Try these rhythms for yourself and watch your relationship with God grow.

Which one speaks the most to you?

Control was never meant to be our burden. 😬

We'll allow God to be in charge instead. (Because really, who are we fooling thinking we're in control, anyway?) 😉

Just a reminder…

Your worth isn’t measured by your productivity, your title, your home, or your highlight reel.

You are valuable because you belong to the One who made you.

That’s it. That’s everything. 💛
