Could God be trying to tell me something?…
Yesterday and today in my various travels, I have been encountering “road closed ahead” sign after “road closed ahead” sign, and they have most often been encountered as I’m trying to get home.
Can you say FRUSTRATION?!
All day Wednesday and all day Thursday it rained, and rained and rained. I literally mean ALL DAY BOTH DAYS! It may have stopped for a few minutes I can remember once during those two days, but it really rained the entire two days! Some people in our area had as much as twelve inches of rain! Our gauge showed five, but it’s only a five inch gauge to begin with. It was probably overflowing!
Both roads that take us into our town from our home are still underwater from the creek that runs in between our home and town…and are closed. It was quite an adventure yesterday!
I needed to get to a town on the other side of the creek, and so I drove the gravel roads to the next town to the west. Water was only halfway across that road when I went on it, and as I was, crews were putting up barricades to close that road as well.
Getting home was quite interesting…every road I tried was…you guessed it…closed. I had to travel way out of my way to a different town to get to the other side of this usually little creek that is flooded and causing all of these roads to be closed. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Today again, on the roads that I traveled on, I seemed to have the same issues…”road closed ahead.” This was due to construction areas. I’m really getting to know my way around on gravel roads! It really has been an adventure!
At one point I remember hearing myself say out loud in my frustration yesterday, “I just want to get home!”
God has an eternal home prepared for me in heaven…Jesus said in John 14:1-3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
Even though we have many “detours”and “roads closed” in life on this earth, I doubt there will be “detours” and “roads closed” in heaven. 🙂 I finally did make it home both days, thankfully. And someday, after my time on this earth had ended, I’ll make it to my eternal home saying…”I just wanted to get home!” 🙂
