180. How to Live Intentionally and Make Every Day Count

by | Jan 14, 2025 | Podcast

Live intentionally.

What does that even mean and why does it matter? Living intentionally means to live according to our personal values and beliefs, and to make choices in life that reflect those values and beliefs. This may include making deliberate decisions daily to do what’s important to each one of us. It may include living with a sense of purpose by following certain practices such as exercising every day or drinking a certain amount of water. It may also be staying mindful and deliberate with our actions and activities, especially if we’re focused on reaching certain goals.

I’ll give you a couple examples. When I was writing my book, Right Now Matters, in 2023, I became extremely intentional about completing the book before my deadline of August 1. My daily routine centered around writing and editing and the many decisions that I needed to make in publishing my book. I lived intentionally during those months because that was my goal.

Another example: every day I intentionally spend time with God, either through His Word–the Bible–or through dedicated prayer, or playing worship music in our home, or through talking with Him throughout my day. Maybe all these ways some days! My desire is to live intentionally by communing with God every day.

When we choose to live intentionally, we also honor God.

Don’t you think God desires for us to live intentionally, and not just flying by the seat of our pants?

Jesus is a perfect example of someone living intentionally. I can’t find anywhere in Scripture where He flew by the seat of his pants. He always had a purpose, doing the will and work of His father. I want to be like Jesus.

In this episode I share four practical steps to live intentionally every day.

It doesn’t have to look big to be beautiful.

Stay rooted. Stay faithful.
God’s growing something good. Bloom anyway.

You don’t need perfect conditions to grow.
You just need to stay rooted in the One who planted you.

Bloom where you are—God’s not finished with you in this season.

It wasn't until I lost my mom in 2006 that I realized Mother's Day isn't the happiest day for all of us.

Please know that no matter how you are feeling today and what emotions you are experiencing, God sees, He knows, and He cares.

And I'm praying for you. My heart is with you, especially today. 🩷

I pray you see yourself the way God sees you.

You're amazing! 🌟

Sometimes, a simple prayer said while inhaling and exhaling can make all the difference. 🙏

Try this one if you're feeling stressed. 🥴

Distractions will try to entice you from the moment. Don't let them.

Stay present. Live in the moment. Be where your feet are.

Your life is too important to live it distracted.
