Today would have been Dad’s 85th birthday.
Each year on or near his birthday I write a blog post (like 2010’s post) about him in my feeble attempt to honor him. I sure miss him.
So many things remind me of Dad…the one-liners he used to say, the funny things he used to do, how he cared for Ali and Zach, the music he loved to listen to, and how he loved his family. He would be so proud of his children and grandchildren today.
Some of his one-liners that still make me smile:
“Boo on Christmas!”
“I’ll take you down and pee in your ear.” (This was a joke!)
“It’ll put hair on your chest.”
“Glad you got to see me!”
“Are you a touch-me-not?”
“I had a hard day at the office.”
“I’m petered-out.”
“On the road again…”
I know there are many more, but I can’t think of them at the moment.
As I spent some time with my brother Pat and his family today, it was nice to just to get together to honor Dad.
I look forward to the day when we’ll be reunited again! Until then, I’ll hang on to the precious memories I have with him!
Happy Birthday Dad!
