A Good News Day – Celebrating Others

by | May 30, 2018 | Love Others

Welcome to a Good News Day!

It’s been awhile since I hosted one of these special days on my blog, but I believe today is a fine day to do it! A Good News Day is a day when we share our good news. (Simple, huh?) Today’s focus is on celebrating others.

It’s a Good News Day and we’re celebrating others!

Sometimes I fall short in appreciating people in my life. Some days I’m too immersed in my own life that I forget to lift my eyes to see what’s going on in the lives of those around me. But, today, I’m intentionally changing thing up.  I’m celebrating and appreciating others and I’m thanking God they are in my life. Won’t you join me?

The thing is, I believe each person is in our lives for a reason. I don’t believe any personal encounter with another is an accident. God sweetens our lives by giving us the gift of relationships. He may bring someone in our life to grow us, to teach us, to bring us joy. Or, maybe to strengthen us, to make us smile, to help us become more like His son Jesus. No matter why or how, God blesses our lives through the presence of others.

Join me in celebrating others today!

Join me in celebrating others today.

Maybe it’s that friend who has been by your side for years. Or, that neighbor who is kind and shares a smile each time you see him. Maybe there’s someone in your life who always has a kind word and has a way of making you feel encouraged. Or, your coworker someone how finds a way to brighten up the office each day.

Maybe it’s your husband, or your teenager, or your parent who you could celebrate today. Quite possibly you and I may encounter someone we’ve never met, but his or her service in the check out line or at the restaurant is worth celebrating.

Or, we can celebrate as others succeed in life.

It brings me great joy to watch people in my life succeeding at what they love to do. I enjoy seeing many live life to the fullest, and I’m thankful I get to do life with them… even if it may be distantly or through our computer screens or social media feeds. It’s an honor to be included in each one’s life. I often read their posts on Facebook, see their pics on Instagram, find their tweets on Twitter, view their snaps on Snapchat, and inside I’m giving each one a high five. Way to go!

It brings me joy to see people happy and enjoying life.

A writing friend of mine announced on her blog yesterday she’s taking over hosting an exciting weekly link up for other writers.

One of my online friends, whom I’ve never met in person, is achieving great results with her new healthy-living focus.

And, another friend is living, breathing, sleeping being a new grandma, and seeing the pictures she posts warms my heart.

Life is sweeter when we celebrate others.

We can tell another we appreciate him or her. We can do a kind deed for someone who deserves it. Let’s find  unique ways to celebrate those special people in our lives today.

So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 MSG

And, most of all, let us thank God for the gift of others in our lives. Let’s pray for them and ask God to show them His love in a special way today.

Friend, I invite you to celebrate and appreciate someone in your life in the comments below. Who are you celebrating today? Let’s fill this space with Good News!

I appreciate you and I thank God for you, especially today.

Much love,

Linking up with Holley Gerth today for even more encouragement.

When I wanted to leave my lifelong home state of California, my husband and daughter worried I wouldn’t be happy. Talking to people I don’t know is difficult for me, so they worried going to a new state might leave me isolated. Instead, I have found a loving group of women. I am grateful for Judy, Claudette, Cathy, Jane, Georgia, Susan, and Hannah.

My closest friend Carrie is definitely one of the biggest blessings in my life. She was an answer to prayer 10 years ago and we have walked through many things together!

My Mother-in-Love! Before I married her son, she took me in as a young, new teacher who knew no one and had nowhere to live. We were complete strangers, but that didn’t stop her from caring for me like one of her own. God led me to her and she has blessed my life in ways too numerous to list and I am so grateful for her!

25 Simple Ways to Love Your Neighbor
I will still be your friend
You are allowed to rest. Not because everything is finished, but because you matter too.

Even God rested. Not out of exhaustion, but to show us the beauty of pause.

So breathe. Sit down. Close your eyes if you need to. The world can wait while you take care of your soul.

You’re not lazy. You’re human. And you’re deeply loved—tired and all.
