“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)
I love this verse! It’s the “Verse of the Day” on my blog today. I have read and heard this scripture before, but found it again last week as I was preparing to give the message at church last Sunday. There are a few things this scripture says to me and I need to be reminded of them each day.
1) The Lord is my God.
2) He is with me.
3) He is strong enough to save me.
4) He takes great delight in me.
5) He quiets me with His love.
6) He rejoices over me.
7) God sings.
These are powerful truths that we can cling to! But wait a minute…God sings? It says “He will rejoice over you with singing.” So I guess He does sing. I’ve never thought about God singing before. I know angels sing. I know songs are very present in God’s Word, the Bible. But God singing? That’s pretty cool!
I am comforted by this verse. I’m feel secure reading this verse. I feel loved when I read this verse. I feel wanted and accepted when I read this verse. I feel like I’m not alone when I read this verse. I feel calm reading this verse. I feel celebrated reading this verse. There’s so much in this one little verse!
I think it puts a whole new spin on our attitudes, our actions, our habits, our daily lives, etc. when we look and really take for ourselves a scripture verse like this. Would we live differently today, tomorrow, next week, next year knowing these four truths and living them out? I think we would.
