It’s Five Minute Friday (eve), and I missed the party (#fmfparty) on Twitter tonight, but I looked forward all day to writing tonight with my #fmfparty friends. It’s like a flash mob of sorts, where a bunch of us free-write for five minutes on a one word prompt and we gather together at Kate Motaung’s blog to share and encourage. Why not join the fun? You’re always welcome to write your five minutes in the comments section below if you don’t have a blog.
This week’s word:
–TOMORROW–
GO.
Oh, I couldn’t be more excited for tomorrow.
I was given a very unfamiliar task of writing a grant at work, and I’ve been buried in papers, and words, and stats, and requirements for the last couple of weeks. Never writing a grant before, I really had no idea what I was doing.
But God did.
My friends closest to me were praying, and you better believe I was taking each step holding God’s hand. Friends encouraged me, believed in me, and checked in on me. And my husband. My goodness he’s a good man. I don’t know what I would have done without his love and continued support through these hard days.
Well, we hit the “submit” button today. And it’s done!! I wanted to shout it from the rooftops!!
Thank you, God! He gets the glory, because He’s the one who made it happen.
But, tomorrow. The gift of tomorrow.
I look forward to tomorrow. No more hours parked in front of my laptop. No more weight on my shoulders. The stress of being unsure will be a memory. The nights of rewriting in my sleep will be over. And I will get to rest (a little). I’m planning our annual recognition event for the end of the month, but compared to writing a grant, this will be a piece of cake.
And maybe, just maybe, tomorrow I’ll stop by my favorite store and celebrate with the purchase of a new skirt.
I’m excited for tomorrow.
STOP.
Thank you for allowing me to share this part of my life with you, and for celebrating this HUGE accomplishment with me!
Blessings,
Julie
Wonderful news Julie – what a great accomplishment and glory to God! Looking forward to tomorrow with you – Blessings! #FMF friend
Thank you, Jamie! I’m looking forward to tomorrow with you, too! Glory to God! 🙂
I missed the party tonight, too, but the party still came to me! Haha. I had so many Twitter notifications! It was like I was there! Man, I love this community.
Congratulations on writing a grant! I have no idea what that would take, but it sounds like a lot. You should definitely get yourself that skirt. 🙂
I love that the party comes to us when we can’t make it. Great community! Grant writing is not my cup of tea, but I had no choice. It stretched me beyond what I thought I could do, and for that, I’m thankful. I’ll get the skirt soon, hopefully! Thanks for celebrating with me, Liz!
Congratulations on such a big accomplishment! 😀
Thanks, Melinda! I appreciate it!
Congratulations on finishing up the grant! I hope that you do get to go out and buy a new skirt and maybe grab some coffee with a friend.
Coffee with a friend sounds even more splendid! Thank you for celebrating with me!
Congrats Julie!! That’s awesome. It feels so wonderful to finish a HUGE project. I think you should totally celebrate at your fave store tomorrow. I missed FMFparty tonight too! I miss all of you!!!
Hi Tara! I still want to celebrate at my favorite store. But just the relief of having it does has been a great celebration. Thank for sharing in my joy, friend!
hi julie,
i enjoyed your post. i can identify with the challenge of a difficult project being completed and being able to take a break from the stress of doing it! i can’t imagine the stress of writing a grant:( i hope you enjoy your relaxing weekend and find just the right skirt:)
Thank you, Martha! Those difficult projects stretch us and grow us, don’t they? I’m glad it’s done, however. It’s been a nice weekend, and I still want to go looking for the right skirt. Have a great week!
Congratulations! Leaning on God is the best way to face whatever comes today and tomorrow.
Amen, Debbie! Amen!
Congratulations on completing the grant! What a huge writing assignment! Way to go, I am proud of you! And yes… go reward yourself with some great shopping! 🙂
Hi Rachel! Thank you. It’s been a huge relief, yet it really stretched me. I’m glad for that. Still hoping to go shopping! Thanks for sharing in my joy!
Congrats !! Enjoy time today (and tomorrow) to just rest and relax.
Thanks, Amy. I have, and it’s been great. Thanks for being here!
