It’s hard to believe a week ago I was soaking up the sun on the beaches of Pensacola Beach as I wrote my Five Minute Friday post. This week, I’m in the comfort of my home. (I love home, but I miss vacation.)
This is where many of us free-write for five minutes on a one-word prompt, and we come together at Lisa-Jo Baker’s to share it. No concern with editing, grammar, punctuation. Imperfect, but free writing! Come join us, even if you don’t have a blog.
This week’s word:
–LOST–
Go.
Recently while on vacation, I took some dedicated time to reflect on my life over the past year. It’s been quite a personal journey.
To the world, it may look as if I have lost much. Things I once had in my life, things that I thought defined me, things I thought I couldn’t live without, have been removed from my life. I have found these to be unimportant and not needed in my life after all.
And it may very well appear from the outside looking in, I’ve been lost on this path of life. My career path seems to be full of zigs and zags, full of turns and twists. It’s almost a little comical looking at it from afar. But yet, I can see how one step has prepared me for the next.
For those who desire to follow God’s will for our lives, we can rest secure in knowing He is in control. The things that are removed from our lives, the new things added, and the steps God guides us through, are all a part of His plan.
He says it in His word, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.” He is with us–always.
I am not lost.
And neither are you, if you are following Jesus.
As God has very recently opened a brand new door for me to walk through–and another twist on this journey–even though I don’t understand it, I’m walking through it. Trusting Him every step of the way. Holding His hand as I do so. Excited to see where He’s going to lead me next.
Stop.
Have a blessed Friday, friends!
Julie
Your words speak loud and clear to me today, Julie. I’ve been the same road…in a different place. This year I’ve lost a lot of things I once thought I had to have to “complete” me…and found it just wasn’t true. Praise God! So glad to be on this new road together and can’t wait to see where God leads both of us. Hugs, Meredith
I’m glad to be traveling with you, friend! We’ve had similar experiences on this road, haven’t we?! Praise God His plans are bigger and better than ours! I pray your day is blessed today. I’ll pop over to your place soon…it’s been a full week. I’ll explain more on COMPEL. 🙂 Hugs to you!
Hi Julie!
The zigs, the zags, the lost bags. I love the freedom you talk about here. Free to let go of somethings inorder to walk into the new.
Thank you Julie- I am in the midst of this too and needed this reminder today!
Happy Friday to you!
Hi Brandi! It’s good for me to read I have a friend who is going through similar things! I love how you put this…”Free to let go of some things in order to walk in the new.” I needed your comment today! Thank you! God bless you as you keep your focus on Him and His will for your life, my friend! Hugs!
