192. Dusting Off Weariness When You Are Exhausted

by | Apr 8, 2025 | Podcast

What do you do when you are exhausted? All month long our theme on the podcast here is Spring Cleaning for the Soul. We might intentionally do some deep spring cleaning in our homes this time of year, so why not do some spring cleaning for our souls? Last week we discussed Clearing out the Cobwebs When We Feel Dead Inside. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and like you just can’t keep going, stay with me here. We’re looking at how to dust off that weariness and find refreshment for our souls today.

Last month I was exhausted. I began the month sick with some sort of virus. Our yearly March vacation to Florida was canceled almost at the last minute due to delayed inspections from hurricane damage last fall. My mother-in-law unexpectedly passed away on March 10, which sent us all into a tailspin of funeral preparations and plans. Grief consumed us, and as I attempted to try to hold everyone in my family together, I began to feel the weight of weariness and exhaustion set in. I felt emotionally spent, physically drained, mentally empty, and spiritually hollow. One can only function like this for a short time before breaking completely down.

As my overwhelm was mounting on one specific day, I didn’t think I could go on. But I had to–or so I thought. I finally got to the point I knew I either needed to proactively take care of myself or I would be forced to do so. I removed everything off my calendar for a couple days after the funeral and finally found refreshment for my soul.

Maybe you’re in this place right now.

Maybe you are near your breaking point, and you feel you can’t take one more step, make one more decision, or do one more task. If this is you, or someone you know. you’ve come to the right place today.

We peer into varying forms of weariness and exhaustion, and we find fresh hope through God’s faithfulness.

Take a few moments to dust off the weariness and click on the player above to listen to the 20-minute episode.

Thankfully you and I aren’t expected to walk through exhaustion alone. God walks with through it with us when we draw near to Him.

Could it be time for a little dusting if you are exhausted?

It’s amazing what a little dusting can do, in our homes and in our souls.

I invite you back next week as we discuss decluttering your heart when you are distracted. If you’re feeling way too distracted these days, or know someone who is, this episode will be timely. It’ll drop next Tuesday.

Take care of yourself in this season. Your soul will thank you for it.

It doesn’t have to look big to be beautiful.

Stay rooted. Stay faithful.
God’s growing something good. Bloom anyway.

You don’t need perfect conditions to grow.
You just need to stay rooted in the One who planted you.

Bloom where you are—God’s not finished with you in this season.

It wasn't until I lost my mom in 2006 that I realized Mother's Day isn't the happiest day for all of us.

Please know that no matter how you are feeling today and what emotions you are experiencing, God sees, He knows, and He cares.

And I'm praying for you. My heart is with you, especially today. 🩷

I pray you see yourself the way God sees you.

You're amazing! 🌟

Sometimes, a simple prayer said while inhaling and exhaling can make all the difference. 🙏

Try this one if you're feeling stressed. 🥴

Distractions will try to entice you from the moment. Don't let them.

Stay present. Live in the moment. Be where your feet are.

Your life is too important to live it distracted.
