What a weekend!
I returned home yesterday from a once-every-three-years Bible Study Fellowship Leaders’ Retreat. I wasn’t a Leader three years ago, so the last time I went was six years ago. As I mentioned in last night’s post, it was held in Milwaukee.
Tina and I drove together, sharing laughs, memories, updated each other on our lives…sharing life with each other. She was also my roommate. We were able to connect with each other in ways we haven’t done for a very long time.
Before the Retreat, I asked God to show me what I was supposed to take from this time away. I received no neon lights in the sky, no billboards with instruction, no monumental news. Instead what I took away were more things like living a completely pure life to be an example to others. To eradicate biblical poverty by spending time each day in the Word…growing up in my Christian walk, learning and applying God’s Words. To continue to train our children in godly ways. To spend more quality time with the Lord to grow my relationship with Him, to an even more intimate level. I did hear God say clearly to me though, that “Alissa could go to BSF with me next year.” We’ll see what happens with that. (Will begin praying for God’s will there.)
During the Retreat, I found myself thinking back to where I was in life six years ago. How I’ve grown as a Christian in six years was encouraging to me! In the last six years I’ve made many mistakes, made choices that didn’t serve me or God well, and despite those things, God has drawn me closer to Him! I couldn’t help but worship Him in thankfulness!
I’ll be going through my notes today, reflecting, and beginning to apply some of the teaching we received in 2 Timothy. This weekend certainly was a great gift to me! It’s an honor and privilege to be a part of and serve the Lord in Bible Study Fellowship! BSF’s website is http://www.bsfinternational.org/. See if there’s a class in your area…it’s an amazing, in-depth Bible study, for men, women and children!
Here are just a couple pictures from the weekend…
