“Lord, help me be a blessing today.”
For some time now, these words have been a part of my morning prayer. A couple days last week, however, my prayer time took a backseat to my full schedule. I missed my prayer time, and I missed those words above.
I didn’t feel like I was a blessing to anyone those days.
I’ve learned enough to understand our prayers matter. Our prayers are important. Our prayers fall on the ears of the One Who created heaven and earth and everything in them. God hears us, and He answers us.
And, I’m so thankful He does.
This is where my heart is. I desire to be a blessing. I don’t want to add to anyone’s burden, ever. But, even though these are my desires, I can’t be a blessing on my own. I need God’s help.
After missing those days of morning prayer, I decided to write a prayer based on the above words. It’s simple, and it’s basic, yet I hope to memorize it over the summer months as I pray it each day. I have it hanging on my bathroom mirror to remind me.
Last evening I had the thought to share it here. Join me in praying it, if you wish, and feel free to use the printable below.
May you and I be a blessing to the world around us.
Lord, Help Me Be A Blessing Today
Lord, help me be a blessing today.
Help me to lessen the load of others.
Equip me to encourage, and cue me to show compassion.
Where I can, help me walk alongside of those who need a friend, with a listening ear, and a helping hand.
Help me to not add to the burden of any person, in any way.
Allow me to voice words of sympathy, sorrow, and caring.
Help me to also speak blessings, compliments, and congratulations wherever I’m able.
Give me a heart to comfort and not compare, and to serve without strife.
Lord, open my eyes to the ones who feel invisible.
Allow me to see those who aren’t seen.
May I notice those who feel unnoticed.
Lead me to love without conditions, believe the best in others, and shine your light to everyone I meet.
I pray others see Jesus in me today.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Just beautiful Julie and I will print your prayer so I too can practice your wise words. I hope you know that you’re a blessing to me!
Cindy, thank you. You are a blessing to me! I hope some day we can meet in person!! Have a blessed day, my friend!
Julie, Do you have cards that you sell with this prayer in them? I would love to have some. Thanks so much.
Hi Cheryl. No, but you’ve given me an idea to make some. I’ll let you know once I have them complete. Thank you!
I saw this prayer on Facebook. Loved it. My friend, Gerald Lewis and I sing and record gospel music. I asked him if he could put a tune to it and sing it. He plays piano and pastors First Assembly of God in Swartz La. He is a 1st cousin to Jerry Lee Leeis, Mickey Gilley and 2nd to Jimmy Swaggart. He had to add/change a couple of words but kept it true to your poem. We have over 2000 videos on you tube. Pray it will be a blessing to people in song too.
