One week into this new year 2022, and it already feels like a familiar friend. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad, but oftentimes we flip the calendar (or hang up the new one), expecting bright and wonderful things to take place in a new year. At least I do. I find such hope and promise in a new year. But sometimes the new year feels a little like the old one we just said goodbye to. Sometimes the new year feels just as familiar as the one that just ended. We wonder has anything changed besides adding one number on to the year?
I don’t know how 2022 has begun for you, but it’s been an adventure over here. I shared this in detail to my email group this week. Click here to access this email group to receive the inside scoop and have access to my free resources! This first week of 2022 has felt like a month. In fact I had to do a double-take when I looked at today’s date. It’s only the 8th? I know that to be true, but these eight days have seemed a whole lot longer.
But I won’t rush time. Time goes fast enough on its on without me helping it along. I’m ready for time to slow a bit. I’m eager to appreciate each and every day. I don’t feel like I’ve done that very well so far in this new year.
So, as we venture on into they year 2022, where does this find you?
How are you today? How are you doing in these first eight days of this new year?
Did you choose a word for the year 2022?
Have you set any goals or aspirations?
What are your hopes and dreams for 2022?
Any changes you plan to make in the new year?
I’d love to read about anything you care to share in the comments below.
I typically choose a word for the year and also set a few goals. My past words have been:
2014 – JOURNEY
2015 – IMPACT
2016 – BELIEVE
2017 – LIVE
2018 – ADVENTURE
2019 – REVIVE
2020 – OPEN
2021 – CONNECT
I shared my word and goals for 2022 in this week’s Encouragement for Real Life Podcast episode, Hello 2022: The New Year We are Ready For. In case you missed it, my word for this year is…
DELIGHT.
#delight2022. And I’m so excited about it!
The scripture I chose to go along with it is Psalm 37:4:
Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 NASB
Some “process” goals I’ve set are (I stopped setting outcome goals a number of years ago. I now set goals that help me with progress instead.):
- Actively participate in an accountability group for my writing.
- To find delight in every day.
- Write something daily to bring delight to myself and/or others.
- Be a light and bring delight into this world through encouraging posts on social media, through my podcast, and everything I do.
- To experience deep delight in time with God through prayer and Bible study.
- Delight in living healthy, journaling, reading, seeing myself more as God sees me.
- Saying no to things that rob me of delight.
And that’s where I’m at so far.
Nothing earth shattering. Nothing monumental. Just taking it one day at a time.
And that’s okay with me.
But one thing I look forward to this year is journeying together through it with you. I’d love to connect with you here, through my email group, through my podcast, and on social media all year long (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest). I desire to encourage you in the means God calls me to. To help us live our real lives with our focus fixed on God’s plans and purposes. To encourage you daily so you can shine bright in this world and live an abundant life in Jesus. One day at a time. Sometimes one moment at a time if needed.
I say this often on the podcast and I write it often here, too. I’m glad we get to do this real life together.
So, even if the year 2020 isn’t perfect. Even if our real lives aren’t perfect either. Even on the days we could use some hope and promise (isn’t that every day??). We can come alongside of one another to encourage, inspire, uplift, and bless. Let’s do that together this year. Let’s be the ones spurring one another on.
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT
Let’s be the ones making a difference the year 2022.
I look forward to journeying with you in the year 2022.
And I’m praying God meets your every need, blesses you with His peace, and guides you every step of the way. God bless you in this new year, friend!
Much love,
My word for 2022 is going to be humility.
First year I’ve done this so we’ll see how it goes!
Hope you are still feeling well. Good luck Tuesday! Love, T
Hi Teresa! I love your word! Can’t wait to see how God uses is to encourage you all year long. Thank you for your love and prayers! Much love to you!
