I did not find it a coincidence that today’s devotion from my Jesus Calling daily devotional used the scripture I wrote in my post yesterday in the reading for today…Joshua 1:5! This is what it read:
“Most of mankind’s misery stems from feeling unloved. In the midst of adverse circumstances, people tend to feel that love has been withdrawn and they have been forsaken. This feeling of abandonment is often worse than the adversity itself. Be assured that I never abandon any of My children, not even temporarily. I will never leave you or forsake you! My Presence watches over you continually. I have engraved you on the palms of My hands.”
I think God is trying to make it very clear to me that He loves me no matter what, and truly, He will never leave me or forsake me! What a wonderful promise to begin my day…to begin my week!
I look ahead to my week…
It is going to be a busy week at Mission of Hope. We don’t have anyone to make our three lunches this week (we are closed Thursday for our monthly staff retreat). So we began planning those meals last week. Our mornings starting at 9am will be busy with making lunches. We certainly don’t mind making lunch on our own, it’s just that it pulls us away from doing other important things for our friends that come in. Since the temperatures will be in the 90’s, and our air conditioning system doesn’t keep up on some days, we are making things that don’t require us to turn on the oven. A wonderful volunteer is making our main dish for Friday, which helps immensely.
It’s going to be a busy week for our family. I have my Mary Kay meeting tonight. Zach has soccer practice tonight, tomorrow night and Thursday night, and has Regionals for his 3 vs. 3 soccer team this weekend. I will be working Tuesday & Wednesday at Mission of Hope. Thursday early morning is Ali’s indoor senior pictures, then I have our staff retreat the rest of the day. Friday I’m working from home, writing my message for church on Sunday. Ali is helping out at the little kids’ volleyball camp all week at school, and has a pre-season volleyball tournament Friday & Satruday. She also is working Wednesday night. We’ll have a few things to get together for her pictures on Thursday. I also hope to take my nephew, Matt out for dinner for his birthday some evening this week. The weekend will be filled with Ali & Zach’s tournaments, I believe we have Tina’s girls overnight one night, and I’ll be giving the message at church Sunday morning. Our wedding anniversary is next Monday, so we hope to celebrate somehow Sunday night, if we have any energy left!
I’m reminding myself that I need to enjoy these last 18 days before school starts. I am focused on slowing life down a little, in ways I can. And I’m focused on spending as much time as I can with my family.
I’m also reminding myself I’m not alone. Jesus is with me. He hasn’t left me or forsaken me, and He never will.
