There was one day this week…it must have been on Wednesday…when I was driving down our road coming home and I began to feel exhausted from my day. I replayed my day over in my mind, and I could understand why I was feeling exhausted! Before I go any further, I want to stop here and share that I have chosen not to use the word “busy” anymore to describe my life… EVERYONE uses that word these days, and I feel it has become an excuse for many as a reason why he/she can or can’t do something or why he/she doesn’t have time for something. Is there anyone on this planet who doesn’t think they are busy?
I looked up the word busy and here’s an appropriate definition from dictionary.com: full of or characterized by activity: a busy life.
Instead, I use the word “full” to describe my life. Definition: abundant, well supplied, completely filled, filled to utmost capacity. My life is abundant and well supplied and filled to utmost capacity! This puts a much more positive spin on things! 🙂
But as I was replaying my day in my mind as I was driving home, I began to thank God for my full life. That day I was able to weave in so many things…BSF, lunch with a friend, Mission of Hope, daughter’s dentist appointment, errands, my son’s soccer game, some Mary Kay customer relationship building, a visitation for a friend’s father who passed away, being present for my daughter who’s heart was hurting, and the list goes on. And all of this in just one day! As I thanked God for my full life, and thanking Him for allowing me to experience so much in one day, I realized my attitude was changing from exhaustion to thankfulness…from tired to satisfied…from weary to having purpose…from feeling empty to having more to give. What a difference our thoughts make on our attitudes!
I encourage you…next time you catch yourself saying, “I’m so busy,” change it to, “I have a full life.” See what happens next! 🙂
