Sharing From My Day

by | Oct 23, 2013 | This Lefe Family

This is one of those weeks that I’m working every day, and I’m working every evening after arriving home from work. And I know I’m not the only one doing this. Yes, some weeks are more demanding than others. This is one of those demanding weeks. And come Saturday, I’ll be able to rest. But not until then.

My Bible study is keeping me focused and centered. I woke up early this morning to make sure I got my study time in. That helped me keep an eternal focus on things today, and it truly made a difference. I’ve been doing my studying more in the evenings lately, but after today, I see I need to change back to doing it in the mornings.

The thing I seem to struggle with is if I get up early to do my Bible study, then when will I get my workouts in? It’ll either mean getting up earlier, or working out after arriving home from work. The latter of the two choices is much more difficult for me, as I arrive home and am ready to collapse most days. So, I’ll continue to walk this out, one day at a time. I’m looking forward to getting on the treadmill in the morning though! Then getting in to my studying…or maybe the other way around???

Today I was able to attend an award ceremony at Zach’s school. He received an academic award for his efforts and grades for the last semester of last year. I am so proud of this guy! He really worked last semester, and it wasn’t easy for him as soccer season was in the heart of last semester. Great job, Buddy!

As I close down this day, I’m thankful Alissa is home tonight. She’s spending the night here at home. It does my heart good to see her like the “old days”…sitting on the couch and on her laptop. Oh, how I miss those special days. It’s good to have her home. 🙂

I pray your Tuesday was a blessing, and if you’re having a week like I am, I pray for God to bless all of us with joy in among our week!

Sometimes this isn't the most wonderful time of the year.

In 2006, my mom died 12 days before Christmas.

Ever since, the holiday seasons have been mixed with grief and joy. So I get it when people struggle through the holidays.

Let's be extra compassionate and loving. Let's show grace and kindness. We may never know what those around us may be dealing with this season.

The third episode in our Encouragement for Real Life Podcast series, Carols of Encouragement, focuses on what some of us may have a difficult time embracing in this season: simplicity and surrender. But inside we'll look at how God can use them for our good in any season of life, including the holiday season.

This series is inspired by the timeless lyrics of biblically based Christmas carols. Together, we’re reflecting on the profound truths hidden in these songs, discovering how they speak to our everyday struggles, and embracing the hope, peace, and joy that Christ brings.

We don't mean to, but we can complicate things, especially during the holiday season.

Let's stop this madness and choose to simplify things, starting today.

What's one way you can do this in your real life?

Listen to episode 176 of the Encouragement for Real Life to guide you to some ideas. Find it wherever you listen to podcasts or @julielefebure.
