It was staring me straight in the face. Again.
I thought I had buried it years ago. Had it recently resurfaced or had it been around for awhile and I just was too busy to notice its presence? Those questions didn’t really matter, I guess, but I knew I needed to again dispose of it. And quickly. Maybe instead of burying it, this time I just needed to let it go.
Insecurity isn’t attractive.
It influences our thoughts and alters behavior. It causes us to believe what’s untrue and to magnify the unfounded. Confusion, anxiety, and uncertainty are its partners in crime. It had me full of endless emotions and buying the lies deep down I knew were false.
Insecurity found me in my younger years. It would visit every now and then, and disappear for a time. But, it would always find its way back. For a number of years I allowed it to take up residence in my life, until a decade ago or so. I got tired of it hanging around and weighing me down.
It was time to let go.
Maybe insecurity isn’t what’s holding you back. Maybe it’s something else. There’s one thing I know to be true though, we all have something that keeps us from true fulfillment. We each have something that stands in the way of receiving all God has for us. When we bring it to light, healing and wholeness can begin to happen. When we release it from our grip and transfer it to God’s, the burden disappears and we find we can live free again.
Is it time to let go? Join me in doing so today.
Is yours fear? Anxiousness? Anxiety? Unforgiveness? Buried hurts from the past? Or feelings of failure? Of grief? Of panic? God is ready to take it, but won’t force us to hand it over. When we choose to let it go, God takes it and replaces it with more than what we can imagine.
I’ll share more of this story in the next couple of days. But in the meantime, I’d love to encourage you. I invite you to share your thoughts, situations, experiences and such in letting go below. Your story matters, and yours might just be the one that gives hope to another.
May God fill you with His love, His goodness, and His peace!
Much love,
Julie

The image that came to mind as I read is of digging up a dirty old bone to chew on, like a poor lost dog, when God (our master!) has provided for us in every way! Insecurity definitely keeps popping up in my life as well. Thanks for this exhortation to cut it off at the root.
Michele, it’s always a joy to see you here. Thank you for your perspective of the dirty old bone. That’s a visual reminder I won’t soon forget! Praying for us all in this matter. Bless you, friend!
Julie, it is so true that our fears and insecurities keep us from experiencing all that God has for us. I love that you mentioned that when we give those things to Him, He replaces them with something better. I have been learning lately that I need to choose to accept and lean into His “something better” when I give Him my worries. Thanks for this encouraging post!
Hello Courtney! Thank you for sharing a piece of you and your story here. I think that’s something we all can choose to do when we give Him whatever we’re struggling with. Thanks for the reminder it’s a choice! God bless you.
The thing I have to let go of is my desire to please others, it’s so strong that it pulls me away from my ultimate purpose of pleasing God. Thank you for your honesty and your challenge today.
Oh, Sarah, that’s one of mine too. I’ve been a people pleaser for quite some time. I continue to work at it and pray for God’s equipping and strength to conquer it. Praying this for you today, too. So glad you stopped over. Blessings to you!
You are so right when you say that all of us have something holding us back from all that God has for us. I know I have plenty that I need to let go. Thank you for this reminder, I will need to pray for lots of grace as I learn to let go of these things! So glad I stopped by 🙂
Hi Nicole! I’m with you… needing to pray for lots of grace as I learn to let go. Glad we can walk this road together! Blessings to you. Thanks for stopping over!
