“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…everywhere you go…” That Christmas song makes me smile. 🙂
It IS beginning to look a lot like Christmas at our home!
Snow is on the ground, and brrr, it’s cold out! Our thermometer says it’s 7.3 degrees outside. How thankful I am for our warm home, but I can’t help but think of my friends from Mission of Hope who are spending the night outside tonight. I pray God will take care of them.
Our Christmas tree is beautiful, if I do say so myself. 🙂 We changed our Christmas tree just a little this year by adding a aqua colored ribbon cascading down from the top to the bottom of the tree. We don’t have a star on top this year, we have a bow instead. I like the change. I love sitting in our living room, soaking in the sight of our tree. But then I think about those who may not have a tree this year for whatever reason. I’m certainly not meaning to boast about ours. I just enjoy it.
“The stockings were hung by the chimney with care…” I enjoy these too. Our stockings been a part of our family since Ali and Zach were babies. I grew up with having stockings, and I still have mine from when I was a child. I would ALWAYS receive an apple and an orange in my stocking on Christmas morning, along with candy…usually a Lifesaver Storybook. 🙂
We’re almost done with our shopping…just a few more gifts we want to get. There are many people in our lives this year who won’t be doing any shopping, for a number of reasons. I’m glad “shopping” hasn’t been my focus this year like it has been in past years. God has really shown our family what’s truly important this time of year…Jesus, the people in our lives, true joy, peace, health, and the little things that you can’t put a price on.
Tina, her girls, Ali, Zach and I got together yesterday to bake. We talked for a couple of hours, and really enjoyed each other’s company. It then began to snow…one of the most beautiful snowfalls I can remember. With the scare of the roads getting bad, we decided to leave her home early to make our trek back home. We baked NOTHING…and that was ok. It was more important to spend time together than it was to bake cookies. So we baked separately yesterday…she at her home and me at mine with the kids. It smells like Christmas in our home too! 🙂
It’s less than two weeks until Christmas. I enjoy celebrating Jesus’ birth, and I look forward to doing it again with family this year. Merry Christmas!
