Five Minute Friday – Limit

by | Feb 11, 2016 | Five Minute Friday

For the first time in months I missed Five Minute Friday last week. My week just wasn’t the same. But I’m back today, and I’m thankful.

Five Minute Friday is not only free-writing for five minutes, but it’s also an amazing community of people of encouragement, hope, and friendship. I appreciate this community. We gather together on Twitter for #fmfparty on Thursday nights, Kate gives us a prompt for the week. We free-write for five minutes, and share and encourage back at Kate’s.

I invite you to join us… either on your blog, in the comments below, or at home on a piece of paper. It’s great fun!

This week’s word:

–LIMIT–

GO.

I was reminded of a truth this week, and I believe it was timely.

God’s doesn’t limit us, so why do we?

limitGod created you and me for His plans and purposes. And those plans and purposes are nothing short of amazing. And yet, I can get caught up in setting limits on what I think I can or can’t do.

Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. Psalm 147:5

If I truly believe this scripture to be true, His greatness and His mighty power can help me do all He calls me to. Instead of relying on my own strength, when I tap into His, all limits dissolve and His will is accomplished.

I love how that works.

Friend, if God is calling you to something, He’ll give you what you need to accomplish it. We see our limitations. God sees our potential. We see our flaws. He sees who He made us to be. (I sometimes with I could see that!) We see what’s holding us back. And He sees who He’s molding us into.

I’m thankful He’s not done with us!

For a little extra encouragement, read all the way through Psalm 147. You’ll get a refreshing glimpse of Who our God is and what He does.

With God guiding us, the only limit we have is the one we place on ourselves. May we never limit ourselves again.

STOP.

Blessings,

Julie

Love the way you are looking at this, Julie.

There are times when I think that His removal of limitation is reflected in the face of my doctor…surprised as all getout that I am still alive.

Ah, thank you for that refreshing reminder! I’m in danger of limiting myself on a project I’m working on, so it’s good to remember that I have no limits in him!

Julie, we both gravitated to the same scripture in Psalms! Nothing is too hard for Him! #21 at Kate’s.

Mmmmmmm, this is so good, and I love how it dovetails with others’ thoughts from FMF! I think you caught the most lovely of thoughts: He will give us all we need to accomplish what HE calls us to. Sometimes I have to step back and remember that if something’s not working, either it’s not what I’m called to, or I haven’t seen Him work yet. Love it!

I love this, Julie! I almost added that verse to my entry this week. It’s a great verse and it really helps us to know that He is absolutely limitless.

Julie, I love where you took this word. I confess, I’m quick to limit my God to the scope of what I see or understand. How sad is that?! This is where faith comes in. When He shows us something, sometimes we just need to take the next step forward, even when we can’t see beyond that. I need to remember this. 🙂

SO glad to have you back, Julie! I love the verse you shared — such a great encouragement! And this is such a lovely thought: “We see our limitations. God sees our potential. We see our flaws. He sees who He made us to be.” Amen! I agree with you — I’m so glad He’s not done with us yet! Always a joy to have you with us!
