Life gets ticking right along.
We get caught up in climbing the success ladder, looking for the next big break, seeking a way to make it in the big leagues.
There’s deadlines to meet, dinner to make, diapers to change, and oh yeah, that pile of laundry is beckoning to be washed.
We mailed the payment too late, missed the enrollment period, or got lost following our trusted GPS.
We’re planning vacations, schedules, carpools, and life.
It’s no wonder we forget.
I woke today wondering how in the world time and life can zip by so quickly.
It’s humbling when I ponder that thought for too long. It’s even more humbling when I wonder, “what will I be doing and where will I be in five years??”
That wondering caused me to remember.
To remember the promises God has given me.
Yes! Those special promises He has shown me. How could I forget them? Did I stop believing them?? Did I give up on them?? Did I give up on God fulfilling His Word to me??
Friend, what about you?
What promise has God given you?
What specific thing did He show you or share with you?
What encouragement has He given you for your life?
Did He give you a one word or a scripture verse at the beginning of this year?
Did He give you a promise some time ago that hasn’t yet come to pass?
I’d say it’s a great day to remember, and it’s time to believe again.
The above verse speaks loudly to my heart. It helps me press on in my calling, and in believing God is still working out the promises He gave me.
Take for example a promise God gave me six years ago. It was through Psalm 89:1…
I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
God revealed to me much in this scripture. Singing and speaking for Him, to the young and the mature. I look forward to when He fulfills it all.
So, by remembering, I’m again believing. And I’m believing while I’m waiting.
Waiting is hard, I know. But friend, as we wait for His promises to be fulfilled, will you stand with me, believing God will do what He said He will do? God isn’t one to go back on His Word. He’ll fulfill those promises He’s given each of us in His perfect timing.
Would you care to share? What promise(s) are you remembering, believing, and waiting for God to fulfill in your life? I’d love to encourage you today.
It’s time to believe. Let’s believe together.
Much love,
Julie
P.S. The hymn, Standing On The Promises Of God comes to mind after writing this post. I plan on singing it all day long.
Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior,
Standing, standing… I’m standing on the promises of God…

Sweet Julie,
You have blessed my heart so incredibly with your words today. I absolutely love the image you shared with the words of Luke 1:45 – how beautiful! God has spoken specific promises to me for healing from the devastation of childhood abuse, and also for a ministry of walking alongside others as they seek healing in their lives. I have been in what seems like a waiting period for some time. I do see God healing me, although the process is much more difficult than I had hoped. I also see glimpses of the second promise, as I share my story of healing at incrementalhealing.wordpress.com – I often feel, though, that He has promised so much more – complete healing for myself, and my pain redeemed to help many find healing. Thank you for reminding me of His faithfulness in keeping His promises.
Blessings and hugs,
Kamea
Thank you for stopping over, Kamea. I visited your blog as well, and am touched by your story. God is in the process of healing our hearts. I was glad to see you’re doing The Mended Heart study. It’s been powerful. I’m thankful this scripture spoke to you today. It encourages me so. I’ll be praying for you in the days and weeks to come. So glad we can walk this road of healing and claiming God’s promises together.
Julie, I so love that verse from Luke 1. It speaks so much faith into my heart. Thanks for this reminder to go back to the essentials: what is God telling us? What has He told us? I’m believing right now that He will be my Portion, all I need for each day, and that He’ll transform my small offerings, what I’m able to give, by His power!
Amen, sweet Betsy! I’m believing that for you too, today. Lifting you in prayer this morning. May He provide all you need and multiply your offerings! Much love to you today.
Looking back and remembering His faithfulness is such a great way to walk forward being assured that it’s there. God gave me “brave” at the beginning of the year and it was terrifying (probably why He gave it to me). He’s given me opportunity upon opportunity to exercise it and some I’ve grasped and others I’ve shrunk away from. But when I look back, I’m so grateful that He didn’t ask me to be brave alone, He asked me to be brave alongside Him – and that just makes me remember how altogether sweet He is. Thank you for your words today, Julie – always a blessing. #testimonytuesday
Tiffany, you’ve pointed out to me in your words there is a difference in being brave on our own and brave alongside of God. A dramatic difference! There really is no comparison, is there?! Brave is a great word for you this year. Keep moving forward in Him. Keep being brave, my friend. I’m blessed to have you stop by. Have a beautiful day!
God has put this into my heart…
Una salus victus nullam sperare salutem.
The only hope of the vanquished is not to hope for safety, for only in letting go of hope can one find the courage to fight on, andperhaps win. Sounds better in Latin, I think.
There’s no temporal safety, but in the resolve to sacrifice that illusion and the false comfort it provides, one can truly accept the help of the Almighty to face the next moment, the next step, the next keystroke.
Wow, Latin. That’s beyond me, Andrew. Thanks for sharing that here. I’m thankful the Almighty extends help to us in the next moment, the next step and the next keystroke! May He bless you today.
I’m so thankful for God’s promises! I’m ready to believe again that God wants me to focus (which is my one word for this year) on writing. He has placed it everywhere in front of me these last couple of weeks. And I am getting excited to reorganize and begin some new projects. I have absolutely no idea, Julie, where He is going to lead. But I am sure of one thing…He is telling me to keep my eyes on Him and be faithful to take each step He shows me. To show up and follow, and that will take me right wherever He wants me to go. Thanks for this encouraging post, sweet friend. Praying for you!
I am encouraged by your words here, Sabra. I’ll be praying for God to confirm your calling, and to equip you and guide you. It’s exciting to follow the plans He has for us. God bless you, friend! Please keep me posted so I know how to pray.
