Five Minute Friday – Fear

by | Jun 19, 2015 | Five Minute Friday

Five Minute Friday.

It’s a highlight to my week. It’s when I get to just let the words fly from my mind, and through my fingers on a one-word prompt for five minutes. Free-writing is a beautiful thing where I can just let go and let the writing happen. I join up with hundreds who do the same each Thursday evening or Friday (or later) at Kate Motaung’s blog. I encourage you to try it sometime. Either on a piece of paper, in my comment section below (I’d love to encourage you), or on your own blog.

This week’s prompt & word:

–FEAR–

Go.

There might just a million things we could be fearful of in this world.

I won’t begin to list them… the list would be too long.

And we don’t need to be reminded of them today, do we??

I have my personal few that stand out, and I would venture to guess you have some of your own.

I thought I’d do something different with this Five Minute Friday post. Below are a few of my favorite quotes and scriptures about fear, and on not giving into it.

Isaiah 41 10 creek

Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you. Isaiah 41:10

Do what you fear and fear disappears. —David Joseph Schwartz

This is all you have. This is not a dry run. This is your life. If you want to fritter it away with your fears, then you will fritter it away, but you won’t get it back later. —Laura Schlessinger

Do not fear edited

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I will help you.  Isaiah 41:13

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. —Nelson Mandela

Our heavenly Father understands our disappointment, suffering, pain, fear, and doubt. He is always there to encourage our hearts and help us understand that He’s sufficient for all of our needs. When I accepted this as an absolute truth in my life, I found that my worrying stopped. —Charles Stanley

May you be encouraged today!

Stop.

Blessings,

Julie

Hi again, Julie! I loved your post and all the great quotes/verses on fear. I thought of Isaiah 41:10 also – one of my faves. But this: “This is all you have. This is not a dry run. This is your life. If you want to fritter it away with your fears, then you will fritter it away, but you won’t get it back later” is great! Love it.
Have a great weekend – see you again next time!

Every assaulter is afraid of what lies on the other side of the door (or window, or wall), before the breach. He may be stepping into eternity.

But he does the job anyway…not because he’s trying to conquer the fear, to because he’s trying to pretend the fear’s not there.

He does it because it’s his job, and he promised.

What a day!

If you ever get the chance to attend the Iron Sharpens Iron Women Conference in Moline, IL, go!

I was honored to speak at today's conference, and my heart is so full.

God was present. The women in attendance were amazing. Fun and life-giving truths were experienced by all.

It's a day I'll remember for a very long time. Thank You, God, and thank you to the Iron Sharpens Iron team!

(If you're looking for a speaker, I'd be honored to be yours!)

You are allowed to rest. Not because everything is finished, but because you matter too.

Even God rested. Not out of exhaustion, but to show us the beauty of pause.

So breathe. Sit down. Close your eyes if you need to. The world can wait while you take care of your soul.

You’re not lazy. You’re human. And you’re deeply loved—tired and all.

Comment your favorite emoji if this was for you today.

I felt stuck. I wasn't sure of my purpose, and I didn't know how to find it.

After much trial and error, I took what I knew of God and allowed Him to breathe life back into me again.

I now use what He taught me in my Abundant Life Mentoring, and I'd love to share it with you.

If you're feeling stuck or stagnant in life, I'm here to help you live the abundant life you were designed to.

Exhaustion is real, and numerous women are on the verge of it.

Are you one of them?

Carve out some rest this week to prevent you from hitting burnout or rock bottom.

I'm sharing about a time recently when I was exhausted and what I did to find restoration and refreshment in episode 192 of the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast.

Let me know in the comments if you can relate!
