I hit my Pandora button, and cranked up the music as I was browning hamburger for last night’s dinner.
I’m sure my son, who was sitting on the living room couch, thought his mom had lost it.
Plumb’s Need You Now came through the speakers and immediately began to change the discouraging mood I was in.
It was actually a wonderful Monday, but my thoughts of all that was wrong began to weigh me and my attitude down.
I’ll give you a sneak peak…
- Our treadmill needs a new electronic board. It won’t run without it.
- Our dishwasher stopped working on Saturday.
- It sounds like our fridge is on it’s last leg.
- There’s something wrong with the power steering in Bill’s truck.
- The tragic, accidental death of a member of our small community over the weekend continues to weigh heavily on my heart.
I won’t bore you with the rest of the list.
I started to share all this with Bill, and he humorously put me in my place. “At least all out cats outside still have their heads.” (If you’ve seen Dumb and Dumber, the part where “even our pets heads are falling off!” tops all that’s going wrong in Harry and Lloyd’s lives.)
Yes, it could be worse. All our farm cats’ heads are accounted for. Thank God.
And Plumb’s song helped put my thinking back on the right track.
God, I Need You Now.
He’s my answer to my everything.
I was reminded again of Joshua 1:5.
God is with us always.
And when I call out to Him, He answers.
God, I need you now.
When my thinking gets stinking, and all I see is the wrong and not the right, calling out to Him is the solution. He helps me see I have more right than wrong in my life, and without a doubt, everything is going to be okay.
I don’t have all the answers, and I don’t know how all of this will work out. But I know it will. Because God is with me. He will never leave me nor forsake me. I can take that to the bank. (Literally.)
And so can you. No matter what you’re going through today, God is with you. He’s got you. He’s got your situation. Trust Him to handle it. Because He can and He will.

Worship music has a way of getting us out of our funk, doesn’t it? And perspective is everything. Lately, the Holy Spirit has been dealing with me about my complaining. I didn’t think I was, but I would hear this voice when I’d think or say something like, “Ugh, I hate that my shower doesn’t drain properly.” I’d hear, “But you have a shower, and clean, hot water.” Boy, does that put things in perspective. I’m going to listen to that song as soon as everyone clears out of here (work).

Such a timely word and SONG, my friend! My 17 year old son ran away with his girlfriend last night. This is their 2nd time. The first time they were gone two days, and the first time was because her family was moving a few hours away. Needless to say, because that happened their family didn’t move. So now our family is planning to move to SC by Oct.1 and they are trying to keep us from moving too. But God has a plan and I am trusting him. I am going to listen to this song ALL DAY! 🙂
Oh, Jodie. God does have a plan! I have a 17 year old son too, so this hits close to home. I will be lifting you and your family in prayer daily. Praying they have returned, or will do so soon. Long distance hugs are being sent your way! Philippians 4:13.
