My son, who is a high school senior, has had a great start to his school year. We’re only a couple weeks into it, but he’s already setting the tone for how the rest of the year should go.
I couldn’t be more proud. I told him so last evening.
“The good you’re doing, and the smart choices you’re making are not going unnoticed. Your dad and I are proud of how you are beginning your senior year.”
He may think all those good things are going unnoticed, but they aren’t. Not only are his dad and I noticing, but I also believe the school administration is noticing. His teachers are noticing. His friends are noticing. Underclassmen are noticing. He’s being a good example for others to follow.
(Remember my prayer at the beginning of the school year for our children and for us as parents? God is answering.)
Like my son, I imagine you’re doing lots of good in your life as well. The ways you bless others. The ways you encourage others. (The ways you encourage me!) The things you do to make another’s life easier. They small things you do that are big things to other people. You bless your children. Your spouse. Your neighbors. Your co-workers. Your boss.
You may think all those things are going unnoticed, but they aren’t.
What about the positive steps you’re taking to better your life or someone else’s? Eating healthier. Exercising. Getting more rest. Drinking more water. Helping a friend through a difficult time. Working overtime to help a co-worker or your boss.
Those aren’t going unnoticed either.
Every little thing you do matters. You are making a difference. And even if you don’t think anyone is paying attention, someone is. Someone is noticing what you’re doing. Someone is watching. You are influencing another’s life in a good and positive way. You are being a good example for another to follow.
And the One who really notices is the One who created you to do those things. He notices every little thing you do. That’s when the real reward comes… When the things we do aren’t in the spotlight to others, but they are most certainly in the spotlight with God.
Keep doing good, my friend. Keep being a blessing. Keep encouraging. Keep making a positive impact. Don’t you dare stop.
Someone needs your good today.
