What a Difference a Week Makes!

Here was Ali last week…

Here she is this week…

What a difference a week makes! Last Monday night we were still in the hospital. The picture of her lying in that hospital bed brings tears to my eyes all over again. Those five days were a blur. Waiting, wondering, praying. Ali and I had some laughs and great talks…especially in the middle of the night as we were both getting woke up for her labs. And the shower that Monday morning was quite hilarious…something we’ll both remember for a very long time.

I’m so thankful for family and friends who visited us. Brother Pat came up and had breakfast with me two of the days…just like we used to do when Mom was in the hospital. I had forgotten how special those times were with him. (Thanks, Pat!) Many friends and family brought cheer and joy into that room, right when we needed them the most. Thank you!

We had her follow-up doctor appointment this afternoon. Our doctor is genuinely concerned for Ali, which reminds me how concerned she was for Mom. That’s why we started going to her after seeing how she cared for Mom. Ali checked out fine today. Pain is gone. Body seems to be functioning like normal. There’s no answer as to why this happened. She has a follow up appointment with the gastrointestinal doctor next week. We’ll see what he has to say.

Ali and I had dinner out tonight. It was fun to run into my friend Jeanie and her daughter, who is friends with Ali too, at the same restaurant! I so enjoyed my time with her tonight! I couldn’t help but think back to where we were a week ago tonight. I’m so thankful we aren’t there any longer. I’m so thankful we could enjoy dinner out, get dessert, go shopping and laugh hysterically with tears in our eyes from laughing so hard on the way home!

I’m thankful God answered our prayers and of many who were praying for her. Even Zach’s soccer coach tonight told her he was praying for her. 🙂 I’m praising God tonight for turning things around and healing her so quickly. And I’m praying He now keeps her healthy, safe and hospital-free for a very long time! 🙂
