Our family was talking today, and I made the comment that I really want this summer to be special for our family. I want to make the most of the time we have together. So, we are in the process of making a list of all the things we want to do and experience this summer. And we are deciding where to go on our annual summer vacation.
In the meantime, I thought it would be cool to blog about our days of summer. Even though Zach won’t be out of school until Monday, I consider summer starting June 1…today. (By the way, how in the world can it be June 1???)
As with all posts, you can choose to read these or not. I guess I’m writing them to capture this summer’s memory-making experiences for myself and for our family, and to have them forever. Maybe some day my grandchildren will read these and have a glimpse into their parents’ and grandparents’ lives. 🙂 Who knows? (That’s why I originally started my blog in the first place–to keep an account of my life, thoughts, experiences for my children.)
So, here goes! Happy Summer 2013!
June 1
Today was a beautiful day!
My hair appointment with Tracy was much needed. She added some brighter highlights for the summer and gave me a fresh cut. I love it! Zach also got his hair cut as my hair “processed.”
We stopped at Courtney Kuehl’s graduation party on the way home. It was good to hug Tiffany and their family. Courtney looked beautiful, as well as Crystal. Crystal started chemo this week, and seems to be taking it pretty well. A heavier dose will begin next week. Still praying for her (she has pancreatic cancer).
I stopped at the greenhouse on the way home and finished my flower pots and flower beds in the afternoon. They are looking great! Mom would be proud!
We went to sister-in-law, Laurie’s home for a goodbye dinner for their son Luke who is interning in Washington D.C. for the summer. He leaves tomorrow for ten weeks. It was good to see family and spend time with everyone. (I wish I would have taken a picture!)
It was a great first day of summer!
