I’ve taken some time off the last couple of weeks…time to rest, time to heal and time for a vacation! Taking time off is often hard for me to do. I like to be on the go, and I like to stay busy. But I also know that if I don’t “force” myself to take time off, I get burned out, I get grumpy and I’m no good to anyone!
The time off was great…after I made my adjustment from the hectic life to the life of relaxation. Our vacation to Nashville, then to the Smoky Mountains was wonderful. I’m sharing some pictures below. But you know…we don’t have to take a vacation to get some rest. Sometimes vacations can leave us even more run down by all we do on them!
Jesus had another way in mind to get some rest. He said in Matthew 11:28 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Hmmm…all we have to do it go to Him? When we take our focus off the worldly stuff we think we have to do, and put our focus on Jesus and God’s Word, we will receive the rest that we need. Many accounts in the Bible tell us of the times Jesus would retreat some place alone to be with His Father. We should follow His example. That’s the best kind of refreshment and peace we will ever find. Take time today to take some time off…and go Him, and He will give you rest!
