Proud (very proud) Momma!

by | Sep 18, 2008 | This Lefe Family

I am so proud of my children. They are both wonderful and “grounded” kids. I find I am proud of them often…proud of them for who they are, what they do and the choices they make. Yesterday, I had another “proud moment,” this time it was of our daughter. I picked her up after her volleyball practice and she handed me a small note, given to her by her volleyball coach.

This is what the note read…
“Ali,
Just wanted to let you know that I really admire your work ethic this season. You have been a huge leader for our team this season, and I need you to keep the rest of the team focused the rest of the season. You always come to practice ready to get better–you are a great setter, and you really do hold this team together.
I appreciate your positive attitude–even when things aren’t going great in a game and I need you to play right side. You always give 100% and I love your emotion on the court. 🙂 Keep up the hard work & keep encouraging the team to do the same. You rock #17!”
I already knew my daughter has a desire to live out her best. I already knew she has the work ethic like no other girl her age. I already knew what a talented volleyball player she is. I already knew what a great leader she is and will continue to be. It blessed my socks off though to have her coach tell her those things in writing! In my opinion, nothing pleases a parent more than having a child recognized and appreciated for those intangible qualities, especially from someone outside the home!
This note meant so much to Ali. I’m sure she’ll cherish it for many years to come. It’ll be exciting to see how this note impacts her…their next game is tonight! I’ll keep you posted, and I’ll be sure to thank the coach for speaking into Ali’s life!
Make it a great day today!
Julie
