There’s one truth that I’ve relied on this year more than any other year, and that is that God is sovereign…He’s in control and He has a plan. I’m so thankful for that! He’s the same God today as He was in Mary’s time.
God sent the angel, Gabriel, at the appointed time…to an appointed place…to an appointed person person. God doesn’t do anything by “happenstance.” He has everything planned out. Jack Hayford writes, “I want to encourage you–the Lord knows your address: where you are geographically, emotionally, spiritually, financially. He knows every detail of your life. If the Father knows when a sparrow falls, don’t you think He’s aware of where you are, what your need is, and what your concern is? Rest in that.”
You are important to God, just as Mary was. The Bible says that God is no respecter of persons…meaning God loves us all the same. He loves you and me just as much as He loved Mary. Jack Hayford adds, “Your name is on the lips of God. Somehow a strange thing has happened. I believe that the miracles of modern electronics and technological advances have taught us to place more trust in man’s technology than in the love and the personal attention of God. Don’t be deceived: You are not a file in some heavenly computer. God does not need a desktop icon to locate you. In fact, the Scripture says we’re engraved on the palms of His hands. He calls His own sheep by name. He knows your name, just as He knew Mary’s.”
This should encourage all of us, no matter where we are at in life. God knows where we are in life, and in every area of our lives. He knows our needs and our concerns. He knows each of our names and loves us all the same. Can we just rest in that today? I think we should.
Part 3 will come tomorrow.
God bless!
Julie
