I have been blessed to spend so much time with my best friend, Tina, this week! Each week we schedule time together…usually it involves a meal of some kind. 🙂 But this week I’ve gotten to spend some time with her each day so far, except for today.
Sunday we were in church together, and were able to celebrate Mother’s Day together while we were there. It’s wonderful to worship God with Tina and her family each week!
Monday we met for lunch and enjoyed Chinese. I had no idea until we parted that we had a 2-1/2 hour lunch!!! We talked about EVERYTHING! We had some catching up to do! 🙂
Tuesday I was able to see her at Mission of Hope (she’s a staff member of the Mission and works there on Tuesdays) and had a few small converstations with her there.
And yesterday I went to her home to give her an updated facial/makeover and to help her figure out her outside plants (they are landscaping their yard). We never did get to the plants…we talked too long doing her facial/makeover, plus it had started to rain. Our times together are always enjoyable, but yesterday was quite comical at times. Her husband, Michael, decided to stay home from work for the day to finish some electrical work in their home since it was raining–his job this time of year involves outdoor work and he wouldn’t be able to do much outside in the rain.
Maybe you know the feeling…when you have something planned for the day and your plans are changed because of another’s plans? Don’t get me wrong, Tina likes to have Michael home, but she had been looking forward to our time together and her makeover. She understood though, that Michael needed to get this stuff done. When we got started, Michael sat at the table with us…that was until Tina smiled her beautiful smile and asked him something like, “Don’t you have something to do?” He took the hint and went downstairs to work on the fuse box.
We got started picking out colors and shades of different products for her to try. In a short while, in the middle of Tina’s makeover, the lights went out and there we were…sitting in the dark at her kitchen table. You should have seen Tina’s face! It didn’t take long for Michael to realize what was going on upstairs and turned the lights back on for us! 🙂 It’s a little hard to do a makeover in the dark. 🙂
With only a few more interruptions (I didn’t mind) we finished our time together…I enjoyed that time with her so much! I also appreciate Michael…he loves Tina so much…you can certainly see that! 🙂
It’s hard for me to believe that I’ve been friends with Tina for around 28 years! I met her in Elementary School. Looking back I’m amazed at how God has kept us close and how He has woven our lives together…and continues to do so! We played on the same sports teams in high school, we went to the same college, we used to attend each other’s family events and still do, we lived together before I married Bill, we have always attended the same church together, we worked in Mary Kay together, we work together at Mission of Hope, our families are so close in relationship with each other, and we now only live 20 minutes from each other! That amazes me!
I thank God for Tina today! I don’t know what I’d do without her! We’ve been through EVERYTHING together…and we are closer today than ever!
What a blessing Tina is to me!
