As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I was going to exprerience a biopsy yesterday afternoon. The ultrasound I had last week found a nodule on my thyroid, so a needle biopsy was needed to determine if this nodule is benign or malignant. (First of all, I have to say that it is very strange writing those two words in one of my posts that concerns me and my heath. I’ve never had the concern of having a malignancy in my body until now. Malignancies happen to others…not to me, right?) 🙂
So I was jokingly thinking last night…”The Bionic Woman gets a biopsy.” I remember watching episodes of the Bionic Woman t.v. show with Lindsay Wagner when I was young. I thought she was so cool. Then, last night, I got to thinking, “if I was the Bionic Woman, I wouldn’t be having all of these tests, because my heart wouldn’t be a real human heart, and I probaly wouldn’t even have a thyroid!” (I know, these thoughts are childish, but going there in my mind made me smile.)Â
I then recalled what another friend posted on my Facebook page on Monday. She encouraged me to read Psalm 139. I read it before going to bed the night before. Verses 13-16 read:
I am more wonderfully made than the Bionic Woman…and so are you! God formed us in our mother’s womb, we are fearfully and wonderfully made. We were woven together and God saw our unformed bodies. I love that reminder that I am fearfully and wonderfully made! We were created by God who loves us and wants the best for us. I also like the reminder that all my days have already been written in His book, and were before one of them came to be!Â
I also recalled a couple more scriptures which encouraged me:Â 1 John 4:4
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
and Philippians 4:13
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Being created by God (which we all were) and living in the reality of loving Jesus and believing He is my Savior, these scriptures tell me that I have a power available to me greater than the Bionic Woman, and I am stronger than her also. 🙂 The one who is in me is greater than the one who is in the world! And He gives me strength to overcome and be victorious in this life! But without Him, I am completely nothing.
Ok, so my mind thinks of these kinds of things…like I said, they may seem childish, but I was encouraged by going there, because these scriptures came to mind to remind myself, God has my back! I don’t need to be a Bionic Woman…I just need to rely on the strengthening God has available for me through His Son, Jesus, and through the Holy Spirit…especially through this time in my life of going through all of these medical tests.Â
Walking down the hallways of the hospital yesterday with Bill and Tina before my biopsy, I had such a peace. I wasn’t really nervous like I thought I would be, and I wasn’t really scared. I knew many people were praying for me, and I knew God would reveal in these tests whatever would be best for me, and whatever would glorify Him. I felt strengthened, encouraged, and loved. I don’t know what the days ahead hold for me, but the one thing I do know, with God and His Son Jesus on my side, I am far stronger and more capable than the Bionic Woman! 🙂
