Friend, You Are A Child Of The King

by | Oct 21, 2015 | 31 Days Celebrating Who You Are

I remember the first time I saw Princess Diana on t.v. Goodness, she was beautiful.

The image of her walking down the aisle in that lovely, exquisite wedding gown is still impressed upon my memory. I dreamt of such a beautiful wedding at my young age. What was I, maybe ten years old?

I settled for a haircut like hers instead.

Sharing from experience, fairy tale dreams of falling in love with and marrying a prince fill many a girl’s heart. I can’t speak for the guys, though. Guys, do you ever think about being a king or a prince? Or maybe a knight in shining armor? Maybe we don’t all share that kind of dream, but you know what I mean here, right?

There’s something about fairy tales like Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. Ordinary girls end up as princesses. They are mopping the floors one minute, and the next? Well, they’re dancing with Prince Charming.

And everyone lives happily ever after.

I couldn’t find Prince Charming. I looked everywhere, believe me. But I found Prince Lefebure. He swept me off my feet, and never let me go.

We’re living our happily ever after, day-by-day, even on the days when life isn’t the perfect fairy tale.

I married into a great family, but not a “royal” family. I am proud of wear this incredible family’s name. Maybe centuries ago royalty was found in my lineage, but none that I’m aware of. I’ve long given up on my fairy-tale fantasy of being Princess Julie who lives in Cinderella’s castle.

But I was reminded recently of a different reality. A reality of who you and I are in God’s lineage. Take a look:

All of you are God’s children because of your faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26

If God is King of kings and Lord of lords, doesn’t that make Him royalty? And if we’ve put our faith in Jesus, it says here we are God’s children. You are a daughter of the King. You are a son of the King. A princess and prince after all!

You are a child of the King

You are a child of the King!

And if we need a little more convincing:

You no longer have to live as a slave because you are a child of God. And since you are His child, God guarantees an inheritance is waiting for you. Galatians 4:7

Well, isn’t that a great truth… Because you and I are a child of the King, we have an inheritance waiting for us! A glorious, eternal, never-ending inheritance.

Happily ever afterlifeSure, we could have had a happily-ever-after life with Prince Charming, but now we have a happily-ever-afterlife with Jesus!

I can remember seeing images of Princess Diana talking to crowds, crouching down to touch little ones, reaching out to the poor and people around her wherever she went. She was royalty, and she made a difference in the lives of others.

We can do the same.

May you and I go out into our world and live like a child of the King today. Ones who know how great our Father is, and ones who know where our futures lie. Ones who can encourage others along the way, and ones who point others to The Way. May we make a difference in others’ lives.

And hey! That means we are brothers and sisters in one big, incredible family!

Hugs all around!

Love,

(Princess) Julie

Beautiful encouragement friend! I like that you not only talk about our identity as children of the King, but about our responsibility and calling: to represent Him to others!

    Julie,
I love all the images you created for this post! We all want a princess story, don’t we? Nice to know you did eventually your prince charming (mine got lost somewhere along the way! :)) but what a comfort to know we are all daughters of the king and that we do have a future and an ever-loving heavenly father! And I had a Princess Diana haircut too! 🙂

Valerie, you made me smile! I knew someone out there would chime in with the Princess Diana haircut! So thankful, even if our Prince Charming got lost on his way, we have a Father who will hold us until we arrive at home with Him. Thanks for being here today. You’re a blessing!
